I like the idea of this, but our monetary infrastructure needs much more improvement. What I mean by this, is that whilst we use card machines almost everywhere, what happens when we don’t carry a physical card and the internet systems powering contactless fails! The answer is quite simple we don’t get the goods/services that we require. The retail park I work at recently had a major outage of wireless internet, which affected only the contactless banking systems of the businesses within the retail park. This caused a lot of problems and inconvenience to the customers and the staff. Quite a few customers had become reliant on the contactless system, using their phones to purchase goods, so when they needed to insert their actual cards into the EPOS card machine they couldn’t remember their PIN numbers. This not only inconvenienced them, it also had a large impact on the floor staff, who had to put everything left at the till back on the shelves and into the chillers/freezers. It took them away from their jobs of tidying the store and working deliveries.

Zendroid, 17 Nov 2023Samsung obviously gave up on trying to make Samsung pay hap... moreGoogle Pay is great, and my experience of Apple Pay is a similar experience.

Being able to use your phone or smartwatch to pay is really convenient.

Samsung obviously gave up on trying to make Samsung pay happen. Only Apple keeps growing on that area.

I personally use Google wallet instead. Think it's about 2 years soon, that I carried a physical wallet and cards.
