One thing I missed from the Huawei P30 was the long exposure silkywater option so this should allow for similar.

Shutter lag will be even worse than before now!

If this works the same as on Olympus cameras, it's a very nice feature. I use it a lot on my OM1

They had smart phones. They had access to good hardware. Yet, they went from "the only brand on the world" to nothing in a few years. It's quite remarkable, when you think on it.

Still with Samsung its nice to know the hits just keep on coming!

Zendroid, 17 Nov 2023N9 couldn't match it. And we are talking Nokia, not hm... moreBoth were STILL ugly.

Curious whom actually bought either when it was released? Not many did. And yes it was spectacular as a camera but how good was it as a smartphone? I gave up on Nokia after trying Ovi Store on the N86. Got the N86 after 6 mths launch and compared to the E71 it felt bulky ... looking how frustrating so many steps to do a function (which never bothered me on the E71, 6620, or 6600 before it, felt cumbersome compared to the iPhone 3GS back then.

Refunded it realizing Nokia's writing was more than painted on the wall, it was drying up quikly. Yes I'm sad Symbian did not get the love it deserved after Symbian^3 was released.

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2023It is out already, for any phone able to install Expert RAW.No. I have a Fold5. No update is available. And my UI for settings looks different. I think this update is for S23 Ultra only, at least for the time being. The Galaxy Store Version is from 8th of September.

The most expensive phone, clocking in at nearly two grand, can't even compete with the most basic $400 APS-C cameras. It isn't even a match. If you spend another few hundred dollars on a good lens, the comparison is absurd.

That is why I treat smartphone cameras as what they are, and use a real system camera when I want to shoot something worth saving.

If only we could have a built-in ND filter like the Nokia 808 PureView again. I miss the old days of smartphones, where everyone went all out on hardware.

Imo this enables for more natural pictures than yet another software fakery. Of course, most people won't carry photography gear everywhere, so software filters come in handy for these situations, but no further than that.

As technology advances, we will eventually get to a point where we reach diminishing returns between a handheld and a DSLR as early as 2027.

Sony says 2024 but I have my doubts.

This is obviously a digital ND filter.

I would assume this is just simulated ND?

Lately there's been a bunch of phones that feature a large circular camera island. If those island rims were threaded (had helical grooves), you could totally screw on some actual ND filters. That would've been a great feature to see.

There's also the fancy idea of having electrochromic glass to build controllable ND filters into the island, as with the OnePlus Concept One phone, but that is way too unlikely.
