Dimensity 9300 in vivo X100 Pro throttles after 15 minutes in stress test

27 November 2023
As expected from a chip with four performance cores.

And therefore with sustained performance too. ARM just has to be honest about it, since its getting progressively worse.

Also, all Smartphone makers need to have vapour chambers, and one which have need to have much better ones.

[deleted post]Interestingly, the Dimensity 9300 throttling seems to be paid propaganda by its competitor and people who are working with it/them?

I suspect that it would only as much as Snapdragon, maybe even less. With a firmware update this minor drop in performance may get even better.

        Don't reply blindly😪

Could we have a video showing how its throttles to prove your point against SD 3. Another point is Cortex x4 should only be using 2 not 4 power hungry cores.

We all knew this would be a massive failure. Aaaand now we know for sure.

I also suspect that the X Core design is a terribly power hungry serious heat generating core, regardless of its claimed performance. The X Core probably needs a serious redesign.

Super Android 22, 28 Nov 2023So you have basically just repeated what ive wrote, back to... moreIt's SoC's limit.

Consider a peak power consumption of 10W for CPU or GPU usually seen in chips from Apple, Qualcomm, HiSilicon, Samsung, Google, and MediaTek flagship processors. This typically happens when smartphones use TSMC N5 or a better performance sub-industrial 10nm node.

                                There's no way a smartphone can handle the maximum peak performance of A17P, S8G3, S8G2, TG3, E2200, K9000, K9000S, D9000, D9200, D9300, and so on.

Overheating becomes a daily occurrence if smartphone manufacturers simply turn off the power limit, and people will likely experience low-temperature burns frequently because phones can produce temperatures exceeding 46°C over an extended period.

Top gaming smartphones can handle only 7.5W to 8W for passive cooling, while iPhones or Galaxies usually operate at 4.5W to 4W for cooling. Chinese brands are likely to provide 6W to 7W for mainstream flagships.

So, that's how a 10W CPU or 15W GPU (such as A17 Pro) operates on a smartphone with only 4.5W of passive cooling available – throttling, overheating, and adjusting frequency.
