Want this then have your data moved to a usb stick or external hdd
You wont have that privacy or protection when the files are in the phone and it does not matter is the data on SD card or in phone physical storage.
If your phone gets hacked then it wont matter where the data is cause the hacker have all the access on your phone data and that includes SD card

I would imagine that the budget phones with Helio G99 and the like performance is even better then flagships from 2013 and it be totally natural progress in technology. 10 years is a long time for electronics and especially for phones hardware. There is a crazy jump with just in 1 to 2 years now where we just got flagships to 1 million points in Antutu v10 and now we already are over 2 million points with them. So 10 years in the future we probably have budget phones on that level or better too. That is if we still have phones in the form we know them as of now cause technology change all the time and 10 years is hard to imagine what will be

Its just so phunny when most think expandable storage is mostly a cry for more storage instead of a cry for a more privacy oriented data protection option.

My phone is unlocked in my pocket if i put the correct finger on the sensor.

Having used a gappless rom i can say that power consumption improves to the point of 30-50% and the phone becomes essentially a Symbian device with modern software support.
Then there are MicroG projects/packages where you have most of the gapped phone support and very minor privacy intrusions (still less than what apple provides).
With hardware evolution you are wrong - Apple never offered expandable storage with their phones, how ever google have microSD support with the HTC Dream and Nexus One and decided to abandon the slot with the Nexus S.
As for budget class devices, they've become far more powerful than flagships of 10 years ago and you could comfortably run ps1, psp, n64 and older systems on a Galaxy S3(i9300). So in essence any phone with with a Helio A22 or faster SoC should be able to run those emulators(fpse, ppsspp, retroarch), not sure about PS2 or Dreamcast though, gonna guess a low bar would be something like a 695, maybe a G99.

Never connect your phone to internet and then you maybe have some privacy.
Also it was Apple that started to remove SD card and 3.5mm jack and then charger from the box while Samsung was the first to fallow and then others too. I would say Chinese brands are one of the last to fallow the trends when they still have charger in the box and some middle class still have either SD card slot or 3.5mm jack while you cant have both on middle class but on budget class you get both. Even tough i dont understand the SD card point for budget class as these phones dont perform well to use emulators for gaming and these phones dont have good cameras that makes sense to have more storage.
Whit Chinese phones you get charger that is also fast charger like with Poco F5 was 67W in the box so now with the X6 it is 90W and then have it in the box and also have a silicon case that you never say any well known brand have ever.
The difference with the Chinese phone brands and western leaning brands is that with Chinese phones you get good hardware with a low price while with the western leaning brands you get longer software support but no freebies like charger and case and hardware is also nothing special while pay double for them

Removing microSD expansion is actually a privacy prevention method used by the CCP. The fact that you have to use cloud storage is actually one of the ways to get your data.
Why i stopped using gDrive for backups and decided to get an external 5tb SMC drive. This is also the reason why i won't buy a main phone without expandable storage.
