I badly wanna try one for myself. Sadly, the cost is just too high. I hope Samsung can lower their prices for foldable and flip phones to make them more affordable for people.

                I prefer titanium flex...tech.

This is good, and I hope it's a tech for the panel to be more durable.
I don't think the hinge itself is the issue. What's breaking is the panel.

Samsung is doing exactly what they said they would. Their focus has been on durability and we are seeing the results. The Z5 was introduced a month earlier and the contrast couldn't be more evident. The Z5 is more durable than the Z4, Pixel and Open. The amount of reports on the Open's black line issues are similar to that of the Z4 and they managed that in a shorter period of time.

It's still early. The Z5 could go on a black line hot streak, but until that happens, the Z5 is the most durable foldable we can track and it sounds like Samsung is going to up the ante again. They understand the biggest concern consumers have about foldables and they are addressing that concern.

FatShady, 05 Jan 2024i haven't heard any screen problems with mate forlds, ... moreCounterpoint did a survey in China sponsored by Honor. This is what the survey found:

"Durability of foldables is the top area (23%) the respondents want the products to improve. Comments on C h i n e s e social media highlight complaints about the high cost of repairing foldables and disappointment over the robustness of product designs. Therefore, reputation in terms of quality and after-sales service becomes the top factor in brand selection."

If those phones didn't have issues, durability would not be a top concern. Fact is, no one outside of China has these phones. That's why we don't hear about them. It's that simple. As soon as One Plus made a phone for the states, we started seeing broken panels on reddit and their forum pages.

I don't like doing much on small screens, so I use my phone mostly one-handed, to dictate a message or an email, to quickly find information, or to listen to Youtube. Maybe foldables are great for some who don't use larger screens, but for work I use a 30" monitor and for travel, I use a 16" Mac Book Pro.

Have a Z Fold 3 that I just put a new battery in because it is awesome and I didn't see the upgrad of 4 and 5 that were significant. A better hinge that doesn't allow dust to cause problems with opening completely flat would be the only thing that I could hope for... maybe this is IT!
