Putting a higher resolution sensor makes 0 difference when the lens can't even generate moiré on a 12MP sensor. It's a useless marketing number. 12MP upscaled to 200MP is still 12MP of detail. In fact, I bet you didn't know this about the S23 Ultra, when you take a picture in 200MP mode, it's actually just upscaling a 50MP shot to 200MP. Why? Because anything beyond a quad bayer shot, does not have any more return on detail, even uf the lens can resolve 200MP, which as previously mentioned it can't.

Based on the leaks, the Pro+ too will have a 100mm lens, but because of the high resolution, photos beyond that will retain high detail - surely not 200MP worth of detail, but a good amount

rosesarerosie, 09 Jan 2024Vivo will end them with their 200MP periscopeEven *if* the sensor had a colour resolution of 200MP, which it doesn't, thanks to the tetra-bayer sensor array, smartphone lenses cannot resolve higher than 50MP. Indeed, there are very few phones that can resolve 50MP. Couple that with a small sensor, and a smaller lense, and all the inconsistencies that come with making cheap optics that small, and you get not even 12MP of detail. Very few smartphones in the days of 12MP could resolve the full detail of the sensor. A modern telephoto is guranteed to be worse. Do not let the marketing and useless innovations fool you. That lens will not output anywhere near 50MP of detail, let alone 200MP.

Bro Realme, you're not Apple. We get it, you just found out a groundbreaking 5 year old technology that 500$ phones have, but you don't have a legion of brainless followers, putting it on your cheap looking phones with cheap software and cheap camera experience will not make this a flagship. It's like Doogee putting an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in one of their gimmicky and cheap phones and trying to sell it like it's the best phone of the year. Not happening lil bro, sorry

"Periscope over 200 MP" probably means better photos than cropping from main sensor with 200MP(Realme 11 Pro+). Probably it will be 50MP 3x periscope zoom lens.

            Yes, and couple that with a middling 8MP UW + 2MP Macro!🤦🏻‍♂️

I don't care anymore. When I move to China (never) I will be interested again in a brand that doesn't think about the European market.

                    i doubt they'd use 8mp for periscope.. 🤭🤭🤭

                      Unacceptable for 1/1.4".

I'm curious to see how they make a sensor with such small pixels usable with a telephoto lens (which are poor in brightness and quality compared to the main ones). The previous 200mp camera (main, not telephoto) had a decent 2x and 4x that was relatively correct in terms of detail in good light, but they suffered a lot of noise, dynamic range and colors, especially at 4x. If the telephoto lens has worse glass, I don't want to imagine. And to make a 2x on the native focal length, 50mp is enough. If they put 200mp I imagine they intend to go further, but as I say the 4x over the native focal length was already very difficult even with the quality and luminosity of the main lens. We'll see how they manage. Maybe they rely on AI but Realme being the cheap brand of the group... I don't know. I have many unknowns.
