TCL; the same company that puts out $50 ac units LOL

I want hardware improvements, not nannies shoved down our throats. I hate that this is the direction lots of tech is going. If you excuse me, I'll get back on my motorcycle.

I'm wondering if TCL took away the phone for review from the gsmarena team

Because they did an aggressively negative article

The full review never came out, makes me wonder if it was a revenge article

kindle has been doing this with e-Ink displays for a decade. huawei started using e-Ink couple of years ago. even some fossil smart watches have them. what is new with TCL?

TCL make great displays and this is a great idea. I hope other OEMs run with it, as like others have said, I'd never purchase a TCL phone due to the lack of updates. I suspect their TVs are similar - excellent displays with few updates. TCL's phones typically have poor cameras, too.

several attemps before but theres always flicker on a certain brightness level, i hope its different this time

Very unique & amazing display tech that makes the appearance of the screen display comparable to almost like just viewing a pad of paper... Would really love to get my hands on these to really experience paper-like displays. 😍👍🤓

I actually wonder what they are thinking in Chinese and if Google Translate would do a better job than their English team...

If they sell it with "3 years of system updates", you shouldn't expect more than one security update within those three years. :)

If it is indeed proper coloured e-ink reflecting 100% light, that is definitely a massive step forward from the current Kaleido e-inks, using LCD-like colour filters that just looks washed out without any active light source.

Anonymous, 09 Jan 2024"TCL says it's optimized for humans" what ... moreHumans are types of animals so the answer is: for a few types of animals.

What concerns me is TCL's updating policy now TCL's past offerings have beared no fruits regarding updates and were truly shocking!

Having owned past top end TCL handsets they are basically OTB software and nothing else which left me bitterly disappointed as they are not bad phones and for a company of there size I could not understand why they didn't have there own software division for updates, was always like they were not taking things seriously I know they are quite big in Australia.

So have they said or offered any commitment to software updates?

This is the effect this technology tries to emulate. No glare and no light reflection that you get from a glossy screen. It's geared towards reading, not media consumption.

I agree it's niche product, but having seen the previous generation NxtPaper screens in action, it really does relieve eyestrain.
