As long as that developer uses and have access to a marketplace that Apple created then yes genius, they have the rights to charge whatever it is they want. Again who are you Fandroids to dictate what’s the right rate?

It's about paying for a subscription or IAP which Apple has NO responsibility over and yet, they still want 30% of the cut.

This is the same company that filed a lawsuit when Qualcomm charges them $3.25 royalty on top of a $1,500 phone

LMFAO..but what gives these developers or you FANDROIDS the right to dictate how much Apple (the marketplace creator) should charge? You Fandroids are comparing the AppStore to Playstore when the hard fact AGAIN is, developers make way more money from Appstore. It is a FACT that iOS users pay for apps. Sideloading will not only impact Apple revenue but developers immensely.

Fandroids love freebies and cheap stuff, constantly talk about sideloading, using emulators, as if avoding paying developers should be an Android privelege.

So who is the real thief here? Apple with the 30% commission still ensuring developers are getting paid since their apps CANNOT be obtained elsewhere outside of the Appstore OR Playstore that charges the same rate, yet the same app can be obtained mostly for free through sideloading?

              Fandroid's logic at its finest!!!

GregLu, 17 Jan 2024Seriously ? FINALLY! Thanks for the update 🤩The EU gave companies like Apple until March 2024 to comply. You can also google the law if you want to for more info.

When this will change; they'll realize how much was taken by Apple.

Even 15% for transaction fee is very much, considering how many users they have. If there isn't any application, there isn't any iOS users ... Apple tend to forget that.

Apple is not the same company as it was under Steve Jobs:
                          - slowing down iPhones without user's consent,
                          - charging extra tax & showing fearmongering messages if user dares to choose third party paying option.

Wow, that must be a joke! Really Apple? Its a spit in customers face.
But I dont think Apple should allow to be able to make all transactions over independent provider without commissions. But what makes sense is some sort of payment for making a contract between developer and customer. Thats fair. But whats insane is taking 30% from all transactions in the future. For SaaS its total nonsence. There should be different business model (for example first year 30% and then 5% or similar scheme).

Entity of external payments scheme is a joke. It's making a joke of the court ruling stating apple must allow non-in app payments.

Apple : " We are not responsible for purchases made on the web, but. . . . . we'll take 27% of it anyways!"

I've read further on this topic and many of the restrictions Apple is placing on third-party payments are beyond Kafkaesque. We need to see companies support sideloading and cutting Apple out entirely once that becomes available. Taking a bite out of the fruit isn't enough, it's time to make applesauce.

Progress has been made, but not enough. Someone needs to sue on the basis that that 27% fee isn't meaningfully different from the App Store's 30% fee from the perspective of app developers. Didn't the dating apps recently win themselves only a 15% fee on a similar case on the Netherlands/EU?

GSMArena has not posted the post damning part of the new license agreement for developers:

"Developers are required to provide a periodic accounting of qualifying out-of-app purchases, and Apple has a right to audit developers' accounting to ensure compliance with their commission obligations and to charge interest and offset payments."

"To help ensure collection of Apple’s commission, developers are required to provide a periodic accounting of qualifying out-of-app purchases, and Apple has a right to audit developers’ accounting to ensure compliance with their commission obligations and to charge interest and offset payments."

Apple surely looks like an excellent mob company.
