It's their way of making peaple know that just beceause it's a smaller pixel count it's not worse.
Cameras essentially work in the way that the larger the pixel (meaning fewer pixels by sensor size) the better the gathering of light and therefore picture quality.
Upping the sensor size to 1/3" is a good thing, but leaving users with only 4MP is too low for peoples mindset these days. And even with the decent hardware surrounding the camaera bit - HTC failed on the firmware. It should be significantly better than the others (apart from 808 pureview with it's huge 1/1.2" sensor), but it isn't.

My choice goes between the M4 and Sony's Xperia SP.
You may lose potential customers if you announce it late.

The One mini sounds like it could get my dollars over the GS4 mini, but I'm betting that, like the One, it won't have a removable battery. Non-removable battery = no sale. When will they learn?

The One mini seems to be much better than the S4 mini, but the 5 incher Butterfly S might be worse than the s4 if it uses the same camera sensor as the One. It would kill the S4 if it has 8MP ultra pixel or a regular 13MP as the S4. Anyway S4 has perfect design if we live with plastic considering its compactness, card slot, replaceable battery, and still manages to sport large battery capacity.
The price also gives Samsung a huge advantage.

Fix it with an older camera design htc. Heck even my hd2 has more pixels than this.
4.3" is the perfect size and the one mini in chacoal grey will sell like hotcakes. Add to this aosp android and this is my winner!

Really liked the golden tint the one mini is shown with. Did not like the red or blue versions of the One. Hope they are fake..
Don't expect removable battery or expandable memory!
