Imagine spending $3500 on an overpriced VR headset that supposedly uses "glass" on their lenses and covers, only to find that they cut corners by using plastic on these parts. Then they charge you $800 more to fix these.

Clear case of planned obsolescence and false marketing.

the thing that scares me more is the band thing at the back of the unit keeps burning after he brings a lighter to it. that might be a huge safety problem

"plastic" lmao as expected from the money grabbers apple.

I can see why they went with softer glass/plastic/whatever for the front of it. Makes it more crack resistant. Which is important because people will be walking into walls.

Even if it breaks it wont do anything to damage the headset. Only the cameras get affected if the cracks are on top of them. The inner 2 lenses need protection if these are in plastic and need protection.

I watched it and yea, if you break it, you might as well start working overtime to recoup your loss. It's also very unrepairable (cover glass[?] costing 800USD without AppleCare.)

Other types of damage (unspecified on Apple's end) will cost you 2400 USD. I'd play it safe and buy a screen protector for your device.

Vision Pro has given many chances for you to not break it. If you lose all the chances, it'll cost you dearly.
