Anonymous, 15 Feb 2024The OnePlus Open is such a good foldable to the point where... moreProblem is selling enough to recover money invested.
Are they managing to achieve this?
It is not about devices being good or not, well received or not.

Flip devices dominate foldable market. Motorola does not even bother to make booky style.
Z Flip sells at least 3:1 compared to Z Fold.

These booky are too small to replace tablets. Portion of screen used to display video is basically bit more than half.
        They are not worth.
        Flip is much better solution.

They made ultra-expensive foldables only available in some parts of the world. Of course there weren't many people interested in them. If they made more affordable foldable mid-rangers and released them globally, they wouldn't have those problems.

Tecno Phantom V Fold shows that it's possible to make a lower priced foldable, but that one also has very limited availability, unfortunately.

Separate screens? Hey, it's a Surface Trio 😁

oppo and vivo realizes that their foldables don't sell well. i wonder why
is it because of their overpriced low end Y series and A series sold well compared to upper midrange and flagship counterparts?

Perhaps if they released their foldable phones globally the market share would be greater.

Huawei was the second largest producer of smartphones in the world before chip restrictions caused them to lose their place. They easily overtook Apple in the world's largest smartphone market in China in a matter of a couple of weeks. In the process retaking third spot in the world in terms of market share and the Mate 60 isn't even sold outside of China.

Once they master chip manufacturing process they will be well on their way to knocking Samsung of their pedestal.

The OnePlus Open is such a good foldable to the point where this sounds false. It hasn't had time to sell, but it will sell.

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2024They know foldable iphone might be on the way and gonna jum... moreUnless if it will cost way too much.

Current folds are too pricy with too poor cameras, no point.
Rollable could solve that issues, but attaching cameras to VR is way easier than creating new fold&roll.
Wonder who will be the first...

They know foldable iphone might be on the way and gonna jumb out before losing money.
Everyone in China gonna buy one from apple.

Ok. And what about the P70?

TheLastOracle, 15 Feb 2024Rollables could easily be the future, if they do the imagin... moreProjection would result in very crappy picture quality

If they can get it working a Z-shape would be great, as we could have roughly 16:9 both opened and closed.
But like outwards bending V foldables, it would mean a fragile display.
So would be great of the could make the hinges close in on them self in an "e" shape rather than "z".

                                  (3*9/16) / (16/9) = 0.95 so close to one.

This has to be fake news. If it is sketchy, it is.

Based! Now make an 8.5" slab phone please
