I purchased my wife the Oneplus 12R two weeks ago. I did have to go to the Verizon store and update the sim card but she's had zero problems with it working on the network. She did have a Motorola G Power, which was absolutely terrible on the Verizon network. Not sure why some people are having problems with these devices. I've since moved up to the Oneplus 12 which in my view is a fantastic device.

SaMdp, 16 Feb 2024Oneplus Ace 2 Pro is better than this, at a much lower price. This article is about Verizon and the OP12R. The Ace doesn't even have the correct bands nor supported in the US.

Darth Caesium, 16 Feb 2024It's because Verizon is a monopoly that is wielding it... moreVerizon is nowhere near a monopoly and is actually struggling a bit due to lack of available spectrum to deploy. Both Verizon and ATT use whitelists.

If local coverage is good, you can import phones from around the world to your hearts content....assuming it has the correct bands of course.

This is why I left Verizon, years ago. As of last year, at&t started doing the same thing. My realme GT2 Pro wasn't authorized to run on the network, so they blocked it. How can a phone work fine one day and not the next?! Their answer, buy a phone from us. It's all about money.

If you're buying the 12R its likely because its greatly priced. Anyone who is buying a smartphone with the price in mind will likely not be on verizon, which is one of the most expensive (and unreliable) services available in the US. There is absolutely no reason to use their services

Tubalover69, 16 Feb 2024This wouldn't be an issue if Verizon didn't have ... moreThat means Virizon doesn't follow standard 5G Spec by GSMA. The phone is already cetified by FCC to work in USA. Here Virizon thinks it is better than FCC.

Not all one plus 12 phones are working on Verizon either. Maybe only a small percent. But there is a couple reports on Reddit.

Oneplus forgot to install modem? ;-)

It's because Verizon is a monopoly that is wielding its monopolistic powers to stop consumers from using devices they do not approve of. Verizon should be completely broken up, but US antitrust laws are way too lax nowadays for that to happen.

I wonder if this is intentional?? It should work with the right bands

Verizon basically bans all Xiaomi phones and it's subbrands, any international phone won't work with Verizon either. it's very anti-consumer, it should be illegal, plus i cant leave since I have a special discount for paying for their internet, so I can't leave either. I wish Verizon would just allow all phones that can run to run freely.

This wouldn't be an issue if Verizon didn't have a strict, anti-consumer whitelist. I'm forced to ignore so much of the phone market because they're only carrier that provides coverage near me.

I fail to understand why it's so complicated in the USA? If the device has the right bands it will receive proper signal otherwise it won't.
