20 February 2024
This is a similar panel to the 7.6” display in the Galaxy Z Fold5.

As they could not solve it they offer you a workaround to add an extra layer to replace every time it get too scratched. Sure it is better than if you just had to live with all scratches forever, but it does not solve the issue, just reduce practical consequences.

You will always have a more or less scratched screen, except just after you changed the protector...

And NO I'm not bashing Samsung here. Just saying that there are no know solution (yet?).

    Whoop!

I knew Samsung would achisve this certification! Oppo's fold resistance to some million times means nothing now!!

So what now? Whats the next product to have this next.

      *LOL*

It sort of is the definition of matte as opposed to glossy, but hey I'm not a native English speaker....

So seems like a nice own goal you did there.....

Almost any if not all OLED display is actually a flexible display, it is just the material of the cover display that makes it scratch resistant (gorilla glass/armor glass/saphire/plastic)

So, the dent on foldable display cover by fingernail happens on all foldable phones as long as the screen is not covered by glass.

PepperPot, 20 Feb 2024What you call big claims is just a bit of showmanship. Ever... moreWell, right. Every phone company does a bit of an exxageration when it comes to marketing their phones, be it regarding the performance or the build quality or other aspects of the device, but I think that one particular company consistently portrays their flagships to be better in the durability area, when funnily, they actually deliver a lot less

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2024It's not about, whether other brand phones fail or not... moreWhat you call big claims is just a bit of showmanship. Every manufacturer does it. Especially in these apple inspired concert like press release events that are streamed worldwide.

But, this is about the glastic folding panel. Samsung doesn't make the glass on their phones. When you hear them going on about the durability of gorilla glass and victus glass, etc., that is mainly coming from Corning and test environment results which can never mimic real world use.

I think that is different than the misleading Australian ad. Can any phone survive in salt water? Seems like a forced error by Samsung and they weren't pushing those ads worldwide.

It may pass the MIL-810 test, but can it pass the JerryRigEverything test?

magnaroader, 20 Feb 2024Has there been any reports of Fold 5 peeling screen protectors?Samsung definitely figured out something because it is nowhere near what we saw from the Z4. Durability wise, the Z5 is the best Z and certainly the most durable foldable in NA. The video of the tech tuber with the Z5 isn't even what commonly happens. The majority of peeling starts at the top and/or bottom at the crease.

Still, most peeling happens around spring and summer so we have to give it more time to see how things play out.

Lol. These companies hype up "military grade" products, when in reality "military grade" means the cheapest and minimum passable quality for the price. 😂
