Hrmm, no small version co-launch is ominous. A reporter needs to get a straight answer out of them on whether they're still making one. Hopefully it takes after the 9/10 design more.

If this is the Ultra version, then surely the vanilla version will follow suit? I totally doubt ASUS would want to remove the vanilla compact version from the lineup.

NickValok, 20 Feb 2024Asus said last year that it wasn't getting rid of the ... moreActually, it's Asus not having a clue about their own unique selling proposition for their product. Competing with a large phone will drown your product alongside all the Chinese OEMs who are have flooded the market, and at cheaper prices. The small Zenfone was unique, and it got a cult following. It might not sell a lot,but this gives Asus a unique positioning in the market.

Look at Sony. They knew thet couldn't complete with the Chinese, but they stick with their unique form factor and at least they're surviving. If Asus decided to be just like everyone else, making yet another large phone, they will be outcompeted by the Chinese who can undercut in pricing.

This is so typical with these Taiwanese companies. They just don't have a clue about brand and identity. Look at HTC. They all end up trying to be like everyone else instead of being unique.

Digdigfig, 20 Feb 2024Damn, well excuse me for wanting to keep a pair of earphone... moreYou can still buy type c to 3.5mm jack dongle and never remove it from your headphone, so your wired headphone become a type c headphone.
The only downside is you can no longer charge or transfer data simultaneously while using headphone, unless you buy type c to 3.5mm and type c dongle

Damn, this is looking like a skip. 8MP tele images are no good for a flagship. Guess it's down to OnePlus 12, Xiaomi and Sony's Xperia 1 line.

no thanks i want the cleaner looking compact zenfone like the 9 and 10, ugly back here, hopefully this is just the case for this "ultra" model while standard 11 will continue what previous models focused on

Asus said last year that it wasn't getting rid of the zenfone, but in the end, the new zenfone 11 ultra is just a variant of the ROG, not for existing fans.

After nearly a decade, companies have realized that compact flagship smartphones can't sell unless you're Apple, so they've had no choice but to increase the size, but can blindly increasing the size expand a brand that only a few fans buy? I don't think so.

Well, there are not many options if you filter any phone height under or equal to 155mm for the year 2022 or 2023 their screen will mostly be around 5.9 to 6.3 which is the maximum definition for a compact phone.
I am surprised ASUS still making ROG phones.

It's very difficult in this day and age with all these small phones to fit a 3.5mm jack...wireless ear/headphones are always going to be worse than wired ones for the same price. So don't come at me with your bs about people being poor. You're the dumb one here who pretends that spending more on a product for no apparent reason is a good thing.

Eric20, 20 Feb 2024The US Air Force and the companies that build the HUD of fi... moreI'm not saying that I can tell exactly what a certain phone's refresh rate is, what I'm saying is that there is a clear visible difference between 60hz and 120hz, and 90hz and 120hz, it's a difference between a worse and a better thing. Same thing as being able to tell the difference between something like a Galaxy A34 and an S24 Ultra, it doesn't matter how much better the Ultra is, and in what way, what matters is that it's clearly and visibly better.

DarlingYext, 20 Feb 2024"No, I don't care that you could see a difference... moreThe US Air Force and the companies that build the HUD of fighter airplane already did research on refresh rates. Who requires high refresh rates other than a **REAL** pilot of a figher airplane?

From what I recall, from their research, around 50 or 60fps was the maximum refresh rate that could be perceived.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2024I think your previous statement is true, but in reverse. Not sure I follow. What do you mean by that?

Well, it was cool while it lasted. Guess the Sony Xperia 5 series is the last hope for those wanting anything even remotely close to manageable and convenient

Still smaller screen than s24 but same size phone? That's what k1llEd zenfone 10.!
