HW is pretty much the same as any Android phone. They operated with very many OS' before.

I'm guessing something in their deal with Microsoft prevents this. I don't want them to stop making WP phones, but offering Android as well wouldn't hurt.

I wish phones were more like computers that way. So that it would be much more easy to install WP, Android or Ubuntu, and multiboot.

AnonD-136698, 06 Jun 2013don't get your self fooled with Quad cored and RAMs. It sho... moreNo doubt. it's a shame that the Xenon flash isn't more widely used.

Great flash, sensor and lens (with a proper cover) and a great big battery like Motorola's MAXX battery would make any phone a very good product.

For my hands, a 4.7" edge to edge display is heavily desired in 1280*800 screen resolution or similar. Full HD is a waste at that size and viewing distance. Will only drain battery faster.

Basically what's happened in Android the past year is more powerful HW, but also doubled screen resolution (with no practical difference from the HD screens of 2012 - except the pentile ones) that demands better HW. There's basically no difference in 2013 and 2012 phones, as the higher screen res cancels out the more powerful HW. Not that it matters to anyone other than a few fanboys who sum up their phones in benchmarks.

Cameras have improved slightly, but should have caught up with 808's camera a long time ago, as well as the MAXX battery of Motorola.

I guess no one want to make the perfect phone, 'cause then no one will buy a new one for a long time. Annyoing weaknesses seems to be a must for most of todays phones.

The article says: "He tried to negotiate a deal with Google to run Android, but Google refused to give the world's biggest phonemaker any advantages over its smaller partners, meaning Nokia's corps of 11,600 engineers would have next to no ability to add their own innovations to Google's software.".

              1. Why would Google give special treatment to Nokia when they were carried out to the top by "smaller" partners as Samsung with SGS 1.

              2. "Nokia's corps of 11,600 engineers would have next to no ability to add their own innovations to Google's software."
Look at the SGS 3 and 4. Full of software features not on vanilla Jelly Bean. Nokia could have very well done the same, e.g. exclusive maps/offline navigation.

              3. Now there are no more 11.600 engineers at Nokia. 2.000 or so were laid off. Samsung employs ppl.

Customs launcher may help. LauncherPro, Nova, ADW or others.

It could also be one or more apps in the background causing lag. There are many different things which can cause it, same with any other OS.

don't get your self fooled with Quad cored and RAMs. It shows inefficiency of the OS for a certain extent.

If the Screen produce enough ppi rate that human eye can't detect, if the size of the screen is more comfortable in your hand and fit in your pocket easy, if the design is curvy and fits in the hand comfortably, if it gives super quailty photos, calls, and connectivity experience, if it has sufficient number of applications, if the OS optimized and efficient in handing the hardware why bother about howmany cores it has and what the RAM is.

Having said that, yeh may be there lot who don't agree with me. But I would compromise quad core or hundred core phone for a Xenon flash, Pureview sensor, but has fit in my pocket. Support FB/Twitter

You can squeeze 41 MPix on a smaller sensor. But that will increase noise and ISO.

Nowadays even average Android phones come with dual Krait (as Lumia 920 and this Nokia EOS will have), and there is no lag on them(or maybe few milliseconds :p, but you must be Superman to notice).
Just know this, every professional review of the Nokia EOS will mention how technologically backward is! Lumia 920 was already backward at launch(2 cores vs 4) and with this EOS the technological gap is even wider(2 cores vs 8 cores available now on SGS 4).
Camera on a phone? If it were important, Nokia would have had 75% of the smartphone market not 2%. What put Android at 75% of the market share was the phones with top notch CPU, GPU, RAM, screen technology, and of course apps. It Android was so laggy, who would have bough it?

EDIT: I've added another photo to proof that the leaked device has smaller LENS than 808PV.

I don't want to disappoint you but this definitely not a 41MP sensor! lens is much smaller than what in 808PV look yourself:

I think it's higher than (20)MP but with OIS and 6 lens and maybe some new technology i.e. bigger capacitor "better Xenon flash" adding this (XX)MP sensor with Xenon and a LED flash at the same place will make this bump.

The Bad Part which is All Related To Microsoft:

EOS will not be released with Top of the Line Hardware (Snapdragon 800 Adreno 330 etc.) but Windows Phone 8 Doesn't Lag like Android on Moderate Hardware so you Should Suffice. This Limitation is imposed by Microsoft on Nokia, in future we will see a Snapdragon 800 Lumia.

I will not Hide the Fact that Windows Phone 8 has Some Serious Issues which can only be addressed by Microsoft.
WP8 may not have Millions Of Apps but has All the Popular Apps and Substitutes for most peoples' needs. They are somewhat optimised due to lower hardware fragmentation.
WP8 may not have All the Latest AAA Game Titles but if you are like me who plays Games on his Desktop and Console (always better) then this is Not a Problem. For Casual Mobile Gamers all Popular Games are there and for Serious Mobile Gamers there is always the iPad.

The Best Part which is All Related To Nokia:

Samsung GS4 looks like a Toy Cam in front of this. Even HTC One's Ultrapixel cannot match it in Lowlight. Sony Honami may offer better results than GS4 and One but definitely not comparable to EOS.

This is going to Sell Very Well whether you like it or not. We are going to see a Plethora of Accessories being released for it. Tailor made Cases with Interchangeable Zoom Lenses (macro, wide, fisheye etc.) and Filters. Docks, Covers, Enhanced Softwares, Tripods, Chargers, Flash, Remote Control etc.

If this becomes very Successful/Nokia's Best Selling Phone then we are going to see even better competition in the Camera Department by other manufacturers. This will in turn Benefit the Customers because we will get Professional Quality Images right from our Phones!

Just Eagerly Waiting to Get my hands on EOS and to make GS4/iPhone users Jealous/Drool.

If you who are saying that this Phone is Heavy then you are a Wuss! Go do some Workout. If you are saying that this Phone is Thick then my friend you Cannot Bend The Laws Of Physics and Optics. Of Course it will be Thick! How can you put such a Large Sensor with such a High Pixel Count and a Great Lens in a package smaller than this? I can Challenge any other Manufacturer to produce the Same IQ while maintaining a Petite Body! What Nokia has Managed to achieve is nothing short of Amazing.

If you are saying that this Phone is Ugly then go and Look at Yourself in the Mirror and then Look at your Samsung Phone. Any One of you or Both of you are Ugly!

As for 'Value For Money' this Phone will provide Image Quality better than a Compact Camera of 2/3rd its cost so it justifies its price even with moderate hardware (I think this phone will be priced close to iPhone 5).

You may Not Regret having a Certain App or Playing a Latest Game but you will Definitely Regret yourself for Not being able to Capture that One Special Once in a Lifetime Moment in High Quality so as to Cherish it for the Years To Come..

                                You are Getting:
Microsoft Office for On the Go Document Editing and Office Tasks
Professional Email Client with Microsoft Exchange Support
                                Calendar/To-Do with Outlook sync
Sky Drive Integration for Office Documents/Photos etc.
                                Slick Web Browser
                                Nokia Maps(Here)/Drive/Voice Navigation/Transit/Offline Support/Car Mode/City Lens/POIs etc.
Nokia Music (Free Legal Unlimited Music Download in Some Countries)
                                XBox Live Integration
                                People Hub

                                Unified Messaging Client
                                Best Cameraphone To Date
What more could you possibly ask for???
