          Bill of materials got about $100 more compared to 13 Ultra. Zero to do with crapple and scamsung. Price tag (rumor of €1699) would increase from €1500 anyway.
          Yes, I agree that proce is abusive, almost €1000 profit per unit.

              Too expensive and the cameras are still very far from what old Microsoft Lumia 950 was able to capture. Lumia had far far better focus and far more natural looking fotos and far far better low light performance than 11 Ultra I own over the last two and half years.

                14 Ultra is barely a upgrade over 13 Ultra, yet it will get a significant price hike because Xiaomi wants to play the same game Samsung and Apple do.

                The phones you mentioned are also not worth the money, neither are flagships.

                And this goes for other brands too, being cheaper doesn't mean it is good value.

                I have the money to get a fold if I wanted too, but got a Pixel 8 (as a app developer it is a easier device to use for that).

                It's cheaper... but not good value, no phone is lately.

                I could argue that 4 years ago we had some good value mid and low end phones, but even Poco and Xiaomi went up while giving LESS value.

                Just because someone says something is expensive doesn't mean they don't have the cash, they say it becauae the balance in value is gone.

                Your answer "get a cheaper phone" is a bit short sighted, it doesn't solve anything.

                  Using Mi14 in China since November and already see the Mi14 Ultra at Mi store today (though phone delievery will start at 27th,Feb)
                  The entire Mi14 family are like regular updates compare to Mi13 series (switch from Mi13 to Mi14), update mostly on camera, SOC and screen.
                  The CSOT screen is as good as Samsung's and Mi14 have 1200p screen now.
                  Camera hardware improve a lot but making the camera area much larger than Mi13 (for Ultra,it's much thinner),that's the only disadvantage. Camera software is still good, but less Lecia color style compare to Mi13.
                  Hyper OS on Mi14 is good, have not met big bug yet(my Mi13 dont received Hyper os update before I sold it so I DONT KNOW how it's performing on old device). I have lots of Mi and MIJIA IOT equipment in home and they work well with Hyper OS. But the Hyper OS on my MiPad 6Pro is a bit suck, they need to improve their OS on pad(and also fold phone)
                  Overall, they are better Mi13 series, like S24 is a better S23 and iPhone15 is a better iPhone 14. Finnally they find their way to make their flagship,stick and improve it like apple and samsung used to do for years

The only other thing that might be interesting is if the global models support satellite connectivity as the Chinese versions are using Chinese satellites so that might possibly be cut in global models
