From the article if the rumoured SoC us true there will be TWO Qualcomm chip releases
    A 4nm "non" flagship SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.5

ALSO the 3nm FLAGSHIP upgrade to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
However, on September 23, 2024 a trial is scheduled if no settlement is reached between now and September 23.

Arm is suing Qualcomm over Nuvia technology which developed Oryon.Arm bought Nuvia in 2021 in order to incorporate Oryon into it chip.

Qualcomm states that Arm is not required to pay higher licensing fees as it own Qualcomm licence covers it.

Arm states in its suit, licences signed with Nuvia expressly prohibit transference of the rights, ALSO Oryon cannot be used by Qualcomm to modify Qualcomm SoC. Arm is suing BOTH Qualcomm and Nuvia.

    IMO
Qualcomm has much more to lose if this does go to trial.

Arm has the upper hand (sic) and is not on a time line that Qualcomm is.

Court cases are extremely difficult to predict especially given the few facts publicly known.

Qualcomms pressing dilemma is this, if Oryon lives up to or exceeds Qualcomm expectations, it will be in jeopardy by risking it on a court case.

Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi etc, have already or signed deals and are expecting delivery of the SoC by a certain date.

You can appreciate that well before 09/23/24 they will want clarity & certainty from Qualcomm

I expect the day after the case is settled we will see so many fake Antutu and Geekbench 6 purporting to be 3nm Qualcomm 3000000 Antutu... 10000 Geekbench

I don’t care wether the hardware of modern smartphones is capable of running complex AAA titles like Death Stranding or whatever, the experience isn’t going to the same as the game was never meant for a touch based control system.

The real difference will be seen on laptop PCs* Maybe you should also wait but my Oneplus 9 Pro is already giving me problems! I will have to buy something and next year try this new Qualcom architecture that is not theirs in fact, hehe I say, now it is

I guess this game is HUD overlay galore. Definitely not the game to be played without physical controls cause it would ruin the experience as most of the stuff doesn't happen at the center crosshair of the screen.

The only thing I can vouch for is OLD handheld games like gameboy or something because those have less buttons you can easily play old games. I play some GBA games using emulation on my phone and love it. I just don't know about playing PS2 games or something on a phone WITHOUT a controller, that's all.

Maybe he is the one who uses 8 Gen 4 only for TikTok and Instagram.

People are fine playing PC games on steam... moreBut you forgot that android users are cheapskates so most paid games debut on iphones first. None of the mobile games on Android at them moment can compare to full pc/console games. Emulation doesn't count.

Or have no respect for themselves that they continue to fund games like Genshin that is optimized only for IOS. Android/pc users need 3rd party programs to even break the 60fps cap while IOS enjoys 120fps lol.

Releasing a new chipset when I need a new phone now. Too bad can't wait. So will buy now and will wait for 8 gen 7.

The Snapdragon X Elite SoC for Windows on ARM should give us early indications for this upcoming new flagship mobile SoC. That's why I halted my decision on buying any 2024 flagship smartphones, including Sony, because of the 8 Gen 4's new Oryon CPU.

People are fine playing PC games on steam deck, switch and switch lite which have even smaller screens than today's phones, today's phones are also higher Pixel density than these consoles.. You only need a cheap controller if you don't want the screen to cover your fingers.

Smartphone games are also the most popular than consoles and PCs.

                                      Probably that is 7+ gen3

AI processing needs some insane overhaul. Meaning that smartphone chips should replace website level processing or atleast a major part thereof. That way they wouldn't need extremely fast internet, as well as be able to do things offline too.
Plus gaming and photography need improvements too. The new Xiaomi seems quite promising. Watched the high res pics, and they have great detail.
