You could already use your phone (Android or iOS) as a webcam with apps like DroidCam. And they don't require you to log in to any online service.

I can't believe that it has taken so long for Google, Microsoft, and even Apple to allow phone users to use their phone camera as a webcam. This functionality should have been activated during the pandemic period!

Hate to break it to you but there's been software to do this for a very long time... Been using it myself as the camera quality on mobiles is better than most webcams these days
