Where did Xiaomi go wrong? Do you think it is appropriate for a company with challenger status to charge more expensive prices if the specifications are the same?
Look at BYD first being laughed at by Elon Musk. With the same specifications, the price of a BYD car is the same as a Tesla? Does cheaper mean BYD is bad? Take a look at BYD's current position in the market!

1. I don't know where you are getting S23 at that price. It's available for the same price as the Xiaomi phone. It's older chipset, not having the extended support etc but quite a good option.
2. Exynos would make many people stay away.
3. Not everyone's cup of tea. Still 128gb?
4. As you said, huge size
5. "nothing else matters" is not an option at this price point
6. Yes, nothing interesting and not in the same class.
So it basically boils down to the as usual S23 buyers, people who are okay with Exynos and people who are okay with ios and sacrificing specs.

Huawei was actually making Great products. They made their own chips, modem tech, and pioneers in camera tech back then. Remember the P30 with Leica? There's a reason Huawei got banned, because they were actually truly competitive. Why do you think Xiaomi are not banned? Because Xiaomi has nothing tech wise, they are simply using off-the shelves components.

Both Xiaomi 14 and 14 ultra are DOA
Let's look at competition for Xiaomi 14 at INR 69,999 ($846) (4+1years) wrt to base prices, updates(software+security)
1. Samsung s23 (8/256gb) -INR 57,890/ $700 (4+1 years)compact and strong performance with good cameras
2. Samsung s24 (8/256gb) -INR 79,999/ $967(7 years) similar to s23( but Exynos so you know)
3. iPhone 15 128gb -INR 72,999/ $882 (6-7 years) Strong video and photo quality and excellent battery life
4. OnePlus 12 at INR 64,999 /$786 (4+1Years) - huge size and strong camera hardware, superb battery capacity undercuts base Xiaomi 14
5. Moto razr 40 ultra INR 69,999/ $846 (3years) if compact form factor is the priority and nothing else matters
6. Competition from models such as iqoo neo 9 pro , iqoo 12 - nothing interesting about these except the processors and only 3 years of updates, average camera quality
The Xiaomi 14ultra suffers even heavy competition from likes of S23 Ultra, iPhone 15 pro max and iPhone 15 plus, The 14 ultra even tho is competitive hardware wise against Samsung and apple offerings, is no where close when it comes to software.
Hyper Os is not that refined compared to iOS or even OneUI and let's be honest what would you choose when you got 1000+USD budget? You got to be a serious Xiaomi fan to go for 14 ultra.
Xiaomi pushing it's luck but let's see how well it performs in sales

Then, Samsung, LG, Huawei (before banned), and new comer iPhone are rising.
Just like when Elon Musk laughed at BYD. The important thing is that the company remains enthusiastic to continue fighting against bigger competitors. Xiaomi corp is not as small as Meizu for example.

Because nobody in the right mind would be willing to spend $1000 for a Xiaomi phone. Those who can would just buy Samsung or Apple. Once you reach that price point, brand equity is important.

The 14 Ultra is superior to the Vivo X100 Pro in camera specs... and I'm sure produces far superior image quality especially where the ultra-wide & telephoto are concerned...
Even my 3 year old Mi 11 Ultra produces image quality equal to the current X100 Pro... And Vivo have priced that 10K below the 14 Ultra for comparatively inferior specd device.

What, you saw the 15.000.000-18.000.000 IDR? Check the detail carefully, its a second hand. Now i wonder how the price of 14 series gonna be cheaper than 13 series, especially the 14 ultra.
