Based on sell-in or sell-out is the true question here, which the journalists should ask.
It is the same BS of Chinese OEMs claiming astronomical sales in the first week due to pre-order offers.

Isshiki, 14 Mar 2024The biggest question is - is it better than Poco X6 proIn software? Yes.
Otherwise OP Nord 3, iqoo z9 Pro and Motorola Edge 40 neo give tough competition

not surprised, decent phone, value of money is there, quality better then chinese brands for sure, at least they got good score reveiw here as overall 4.2, while poco X6 pro got 4 only bc it has good chipset 😏

DaFink, 14 Mar 2024Well I’d agree that it’s a gimmicky feature meant primary a... moreI'm not saying it isn't a good strategy. I mean look at Apple. It's overhyped as well, yet the success they have is immense. But at one point, the hype becomes so big/intense that people will blindly start buying said hyped product. I've seen this at some of my friends. In the case of Apple and Nothing, you'd be getting good devices, even if buying them blindly, purely based on the hype. The 2a is a very good device for the price, while the iPhones are great, very capable smartphones, even if quite expensive. The problem would be in the case of a bad product getting over hyped. Say the 2a was $200-$250 pricier. Now it wouldn't have been such a good value for your money, yet the hype would've most likely still caused the increased number of sales. Good for the company, it's a fairly smart strategy. But the average customer will get a pretty bad deal

TechJocky, 14 Mar 2024That's the overall image of Apple usersYeah, same for Apple. It's all about the hype

Despite all those negative comments at teasers and launch
The phone is doing amazing in sales
The makers don't even give a *beep* about naysayers when they can pull off sales

David 040882, 14 Mar 2024I wasn't complaining that it's not a good device ... moreWell I’d agree that it’s a gimmicky feature meant primary at generating hype, if it brings them success though then it’s a good strategy. Also it’s very difficult to stand out in the increasingly crowded Android market, especially with the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo, ZTE, Realme etc knocking out phone variants that are 99% similar to each other seemingly every 5 minutes or so……

I meant that most people just go with the hype and buy it, no matter if it's good or not. That's simply because of the over hyping made by the company, which is basically their strategy on attracting customers

Sadly so many paid for nothing. But then again, we all pay taxes for nothing. So, yeah.
