        As for "wanting to cling to wired earphones", well, no shit. For less than 30 euros I could buy a pair KZs that sound really nice for the price and are modular (and thus repairable), or I could buy a pair of Xiaomi/Oppo wireless earbuds that sound like an mp3 encoded in the '90s, are yet another thing that needs to be charged and that I'll have to throw away in 10 months anyway because their tiny batteries will already have worn out by then.

        And even if you hand wave all that off, your phone having an aux port doesn't prevent you from using wireless earbuds. It's one more port that doesn't affect ingress protection, doesn't even take up that much space, and makes your device more versatile.
        There's no valid reason to omit it, from a customer's perspective.

                          finally a phone with both a flat screen and a rounded back ♥️

                            The camera island seems to actually be bigger than what we've seen on the 3V, and it also seems to be more symmetrical and shorter (the 3V's camera island has some unused space at the bottom after the camera flash, this doesn't have that).

                            Also, the renders we've seen of the 3V only show the phone in green and gray - no purple in sight, if there was a purple 3V that would've been leaked ages ago.

                            Could it be possible that this is actually a different upcoming OnePlus phone?

If someone came up with a dongle that was as good as the LG G8's headphone jack that had Quad DAC, then sure. But all of these have issues, and Apple's one (which I personally use) has an extremely flimsy cable that I could rip out easily with my hands; and volume issues due to EU regulation. Apple only makes one version in Europe, so the EU version with the volume issues is sold in the UK as well. The Apple one is £10 and is only outdone by 1 adapter that is £60, and trying to find it is impossible because it was a limited edition variant. Other than that, every adapter that is better is not at all compact and uses Bluetooth to connect to the phone, which defeats the entire point. Adapters are not the answer, good quality headphone jacks on phones are. I really wish the EU went after companies for this, but they're completely deluded because they even want phones to omit charging ports in favour of wireless charging. Apple may have been forced to switch to USB-C, but the EU actually supports wireless charging even more than USB-C, despite it not being anywhere nearly as power efficient.

A type-c to 3.5mm dongle can easily fix that. Passing up a phone like this just because it doesn't have a hole (pause) included is a very big move.

                                  You can buy a good pair of headphones for at least 20 dollars, which do last. Just buy from a reputable brand like JBL (which technically Samsung owns) or buy a dongle.

                                  These problems can be easily curbed and people want to hang on to their wired headphones. Besides, I know you can afford 3-4 dollars a month and buy a 5-7 dollar dongle.

                                        Not a fan of that circle third camera flash. Makes the camera island bigger than it needs to be. The design doesn't look that good.
