As an American, I’m really sad about this because it just reduces competition and creates monopolies. And they’re probably gonna justify it by saying there were “privacy concerns” while letting companies like Meta and Google sell user data to whoever they want.

US is desperate. These kind of ban is only make china stronger. These companies are domestic company that only do business inside china, enjoy special privilege given by china goverment and probably didnt even care about US or whatsoever. So these kind of ban are meaningless for them.

That is the primary reasons why many Chinese tech companies and even tiktok is being banned. That security thing was all BS. The real audacity is that the US are the ones spying for the long time and when someone is challenging their "spying prowess" they will just resort to desperate measures.
But as much as we hate the US for being a sore loser and a country who does not want competition, we cannot blame the US since the tech that they are banning belongs to the US or was stolen by the US.

USA companies manufacture SoCs every day @Intel, @NXP @Globalfoundries factories within USA.
It's just that they are not the latest bleeding edge SoCs used in mobile devices worldwide.
Those are pretty much all made in Taiwan (by Mediatek and TSMC) and some in South Korea (by Samsung).

The bans are about Huawei's telecommunication network equipment that countries use in their defense and business networks. People on here are commenting about their cell phone preferences. I'm not saying anything about the bans being right or wrong, but know what the governments that ban Huawei reasoning is.
