Anonymous, 27 Mar 2024Galaxy S, Xperia 1 and iphones use screens that surely cost... moreSamsung's displays are definitely more expensive. Replacement costs for displays for example on the Xiaomi 13 pro display which was Samsung are more expensive than the replacement cost for the TCL screen on the Xiaomi 14 pro. However, the top 2k screens from TCL and BOE are also still very expensive. There is a massive difference in price still between the 2k ones and the ones using the same technology they refer to as 1.5k in China. Depending on the materials used in the screen there also seems to be massive differences in prices even if the specs look similar on paper. Oleds for midrangers in particular have become very cheap. The Poco F5/Redmi note 12 turbo for example costs 320rmb to replace the screen. Meanwhile the predecessor Redmi note 11t pro which contained a very good quality LCD costs 550rmb to replace the screen. That is a massive difference and there was only a year in the difference between the launch dates of these phones with the note 12 turbo effectively being the successor to the note 11t pro

Why do you think all the Chinese now are also trying to sell $1000+ phones? But they forgot that just because you sell a phone for $1000, doesn’t mean people will automatically buy it.

Yes, there are more cheaper OLED , but that doesn’t mean the quality or consistency are the same. BOE has failed Apple’s own quality requirement multiple times.

There is lots of competition now with all the Chinese suppliers improving their quality. 1080p Oled screens and what they call 1.5k ones are really cheap now in China. Just the top 2k ones are still not cheap. You can check the replacement costs of screens on the Chinese websites of Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo. Generally the replacement cost is a lot lot lower than it was 5/6 years ago. Even the Oled screens they are using today are way cheaper than good LCDs they were using in the past

you have to suffer, 27 Mar 2024bright green screen issue coming soon.Yeah. BOE has failed Apple's quality requirement so many times, and even cheated on Apple on the spec. I'm actually surprised that Apple is still trying to deal with BOE. I guess penny pinching is more important to Tim Cook than product quality.
Neutered SSD, cheap lower spec battery, and now this.

So after cutting corners by using cheap battery on the 14 and 15 series, Tim Cook continues to cut corners by using a company that cheated them before, just so Apple can get more margins.

Mills, 27 Mar 2024OLED is pretty cheap. Even A15 duo even have 90hz AMOLEDs.Oled used by S24 surely costs more than 2x compared to phone like a35.
                                      Obviously.

If samsung oled used by those $700-1300 phones was that cheap ($30-40), then chinese brands would have no need to turn to domestic suppliers.
They (except meizu and vivo x100 ultra) are using Boe and TCL/China Star because is far cheaper.
Clients dont care, so in the end they profit more.
