potato4k, 13 Apr 2024People are complaining about Apple’s 30%, while nobody bat ... moreDon't you worry. They're both going down. This is just the beginning.

potato4k, 13 Apr 2024People are complaining about Apple’s 30%, while nobody bat ... moreBoth are bad. Doesn't mean people shouldn't be looking into Apple's case just because they are not currently looking into Youtube's. You should also consider that this is being talked about because the people directly affected decided to gather and sue Apple. Do you think if thousands of youtubers decide to sue Youtube there wouldn't be noise?
It is more difficult there because full time content creators are directly dependent on the platform they are on for all their income, so in that sense, most probably can't afford to lose their channels for a law suite like that. There is no viable alternative platform to go to if you get on Youtube's bad side.

MrSTTEK, 13 Apr 2024Western logic: 😜 cannot compete? then sue or sanction! Kind of amusing since Apple's home country is the mother of all sanctions imposer. 😭

MrSTTEK, 13 Apr 2024Western logic: 😜 cannot compete? then sue or sanction! It's not a question of competition in this case though. The developers who are doing the actual labor of creating apps get scammed out of 30% of their earnings which are being syphoned off to Apple, even though they are not actually doing anything but hold the space where apps are used.
That's a bit like your employer decides to charge you 30% of your salary for using their office to do your job.
It's even worse in this case, because a digital space doesn't have the costs for rent and maintenance like a physical space. There are certainly some costs involved but not nearly as much to make something like this justifiable.
There are no raw resources, no factories, no workers etc. that Apple needs to allocate majority of revenue to here. They just profit off of someone else's labor because they are being allowed to.

            Should be 5 billion instead.

People are complaining about Apple’s 30%, while nobody bat an eye on YouTube’s 45%. Clearly all of these governments are basically just out for the money.

I expect more than 100+ comments from android fanboys
However I also android user not involved in this since I against any form of fanboys
If things end up turn tables surely hurt a lot to fanboys, I like android features rich, and Apple ecosystem.
                I’m out peace.

What about the fact that the developers need a mac to deploy apps in the App Store and cannot be done from a windows and linux machine!

Where are the developers from India and China? Is 30% nothing for them?

In the end that 30% is pushed to the consumer, we are the ones who really pay it.

Never expected Apple to be in such waters so much this year. First the EU, then the DOJ and now the UK, who's next?

Maybe the UK govt and EU can get these developers to create government phones and OS with the fines they’re collecting. Solves all the problems.
