The brand premium is insane on this one.

And people tend to ignore that fast charging shortens the overall battery life. And as almost no phones have user replaceable batteries any more, this matters...

I usually say that fast charging is like fast food! Just fine and very convenient in an occasional tight spot, but don't use it every day!

Most people are unaware that charging a LiIon battery at over about 30 degree is bad for the battery.... And fast charging (as well as QI), does exactly that.

The kicker is I got it for less than $10 complete with a cable. Samsung 25W adapter alone cost about $15.

Samsung thinks we’re dumb enough to buy theirs instead of many third-party ones out there. LOL

lol Scamsung is just milking, at this price point I can score 120W anker charger which is nearly double the output of this at about $50 (discount) on AMAZON

Not only does Samsung "overcharge" but many others do too. Apple is the most evident and abusive recidivist in this regard; Apple products are most famously "over priced".

Also, splitting it in two or more cells comes with increased expenses with lower benefits. Customers have become so inpatient and so demanding that nothing is good enough unless it the latest and greatest, even for budget offerings. I'm never in such a hurry that I would want my phone to be charged in a nic of time. If you live at the speed of light, you're probably the next hart infarct customer at the hospital nearby... This entire discussion of fast, faster, fastest or big, bigger, biggest is sometimes silly and sad at the same time. In this case however samsung should be ashamed of trying to sell rubbish for that price while most of their phones (if not all) don't even support such rates. Pure greed as it will probably have been made cheaply (just as Apple or any other brand does). In my opinion a phone should be designed to consume the least amount of power and should last at least two full days so that there is no need for fast charging stuff, at least not for phones. For an EV it would make sense to be able to charge your car as fast as you can fill up a tank of gasoline but not really for a phone.

Baseus and anker have great selections of chargers for samsung without breaking the bank. Why bother buy samsungs? I am glad choosing iqoo 12 over the overpriced s24 ultra because not only the camera and performance are competent enough to give s24 ultra run for money, but iqoo 12 also have 120 watt charging capability plus the charger itself included in the box.

Buy our phone for €1999 and then an additional charger for just €199!

When a brand tries very hard to do the same as another brand...kuch...Apple...kuch...

this is garbage, just think how nice it is that Chinese gives even 120W for free.

The thing that irks me with Samsung stubbornly remaining at 45W max is not splitting the battery cells in half, much like those Chinese OEMs do. Split the 5000mAh cell from say the S24U in two 2500mAh cells that charge at 45W each, and boom, 90W charging.

Of course there is also the charging ICs, but that doesn't require a complete re-engineering of the phone.
