So, if I understand correctly, this is basically a pixel 7a, with a newer soc (but still with that samsung modem), and the only real upgrade is they offer 256gb of storage. And the 7 years of updates, which is pretty good. Why would anyone not get the regular 8 is a mystery

Cpt.Power, 27 Apr 20247 years of updates is garbage without 7 years of warranty. ... moreWhy 7 years warranty? All you need is parts to be available and repairs to be affordable. Independent repair exists, no need for echoing the industry narrative that all repairs must be done by the manufacturer, therefore the users must be hostage forever. NO.

Since everytime ... moreThe BBK management took over and killed most of what made OnePlus different than Oppo (or other BBK holdings). OnePlus was more than a flagship killer, it was a Pixel-like experience for those that wanted an alternative to the Google Pixel. With OxygenOS becoming nothing more than a skin to Oppo's ColorOS, all that Pixel-like experience, optimization, and general smoothness we all loved from OnePlus simply went away... it is yet another phone like all others, which is truly a shame.

I don't think any phone manufacturer has ever offered 7 years of warranty. I think hoping the battery won't die or even be remotely have enough charge of usability within those 7 years is the biggest worry.

Yes, longevity. What's the point of 4 OS updates if your phone starts to lag 3 years later?

Both wireless charging and faster wired charging generate heat. If I need to choose between wireless charging and faster wired charging, I'll easily go for faster wired charging. In some phones, you can even lower your charging speed if you don't need it fast for now.

The 835 in that is still faster than Samsung's low end A15 5G so perfectly usable day to day. All it would need is a battery replacement on it to keep it happy.

So is the battery for sure not going to have more then 4500mAh capacity? Did read some rumours around that it was to have around 5000 wich would be great even making the phone a tiny bit thicker and heavier

7 years of updates is garbage without 7 years of warranty. In 7 years said phone hardware will not keep that long enough and even if it will it will not run most apps of that time and date without any issues. Also forget gaming.
