What I am trying to say is that money spent on AI will give more benefits to what they already had for AI, then if they spent same money on photo quality, the rules of diminishing returns.

    only releases a global version of the ultra

      Dimensity sux i thought they promised to beat snapdragon in price performance ratio but now they were pricier than snapi

        Instead that part of the development budget going to AI scenes it could have been spent on better image quality for normal photos, or just about anything other than this gimmick.

Lower quality on device>>>> Higher quality PAID service. I already paid for the phone, why should I pay for a dumb feature?

                  The second was the worst, by far.

                  So, does everyone really want to escape reality? Or are companies pushing the BS on us for no good reason?

                    We have recently entered the Disinformation Age. This feature suits our time in that regard.
                    It is awful, but in line with the times we live in.

                      What happened to the saying 'the camera never lies'?

                        ai = create hoax

                          There used to be a saying 'the camera never lies' these days that's all modern cameras seem to do from beautifying to AI. How about a camera that just takes a 'real' photo? It's not new though is it coz even way back when people had portraits painted they would tell the artist to make them 'better' than reality so nothing new really

                            Stranno, 29 Apr 2024To be honest, these images look as fake as the poorly scale... moreYou're saying this because you can see the outlines clearly due to the different images, if you only saw 1 image randomly you wouldn't think that. Try this out, take a photo in portrait mode, edit the image, turn the blur to 0 and then go back up and see how awful it feels to look at because you can see each imperfection in the cutout and how "fake" it feels.

                              Ben's gadget reviews already looked at some AI features on a Chinese variant and I'm pretty sure vivo is reserving all this for the Origin OS phones only. Interesting stuff but China one ups their global phone yet again.

                                Not much point in this upgraded processor. Just an overclocking of the dimensity 9300. Would prefer if they stuck with the Dimensity 9300 and used the slight cost savings to upgrade the main camera from the imx920 to the OV50H. The flat screen is a nice change though. At least there will now be a flat screen and curved screen option for the x100 series. It's basically the same phone as the Vivo x100 but with flat edges and a straight screen. Not necessarily a bad thing though as the x100 is a solid phone for the price

                                  Whole point of photography was to capture actual moments. If "Ai" just makes stuff up, why even bother having a camera? The Ai touchups to fix red eyes, closed eyes, okay, you're just touching up the real moment, but to replace a green tree with snowy one and surround everything with snow, just why? I get it they want to show the power of it, but what's the purpose of it outside of that? I'd be much more on board if they showcased bunch of tiny useful touchups that make photos as perfect as they can get without making stuff up so much.

                                    David 040882, 29 Apr 2024This AI editing/photography is becoming too powerful. Soon ... moreTo be honest, these images look as fake as the poorly scaled or distorted photoshopped items on Aliexpress, particularly the lighting, which seems unnaturally flat. I'm pretty sure the time when you wont be able to tell if a photo from a phone has been generated by AI or not will arrive, but we are clearly not there yet.

                                      This AI editing/photography is becoming too powerful. Soon enough, we won't be able to tell whether the photo was actually taken in winter or if the snow was just artificially added by AI.

                                      What am I saying, we already can't tell the difference between a real image and an AI one.

                                        ... but AI in photography needs a more powerful GPU than a CPU !
