IgorS, 29 Apr 2024Almost all brands advertise RAM of their smartphones this w... moreThat does not make it better, especially since that is mostly a thing with chinese companies. For what it costs you can get a much better non-foldable device too. Some people will buy that phone, mostly people that do now know any better, I personally would avoid the Helio G99 at all cost. It's pretty much two years old at this point and there are plenty of newer alternatives that could have been used.

this is a good try, but BV need to get their cost cutting in order

ThatOneWeabo, 29 Apr 2024this with a snapdragon 7 gen 3 would be coolagreed but Blackview probably cannot handle the bill of materials on this if it were to source a SD chipset

this with a snapdragon 7 gen 3 would be cool

Zero, 29 Apr 2024Mediatek should revive the Dimensity 820, cut to 4G, put it... moreIndeed. It's about time for Mediatek to make a Helio series 4G chipset using one of its older 5G chipsets as a base. Even a 4G version of Dimensity 800U would be better. G99 is nice and reliable, but very limited nowadays.

So far, they only released Helio G91 as an "upgraded" version of Helio G88. Despite being named G91, it's worse/less capable than G90.

5G is more for the autonomous and AI case
I rather not have a lot of AI for my devices.
Makes a serious security risk when there is an AI that learns you and can copy your voice in 15 seconds. Think of the harm someone can cause you with this if they hack in your data. There was just one case in Yankistan where a school teacher made defaming video or voice recording with the help of a AI to defame his superior to cover for his money stealing.

After alot of personal research, I've discovered that people always tend to trash MediaTek Chipsets for no just cause.
And they're here again. The G99 isn't a powerhouse, but it's smooth enough for alot of things, including some not-so-demanding games.
It's not the best, but it's simply amazing.

ishreal, 29 Apr 2024you have no idea what you are talking about. maybe use a fo... moreI mean, it *is* true that the foldable screen is really weak and easy to scratch compared to the outer one, and some foldables have bad hinge designs that break down pretty easily and even better quality hinges will break if the phone keeps dropping out of your hands. As much as I would absolutely love to get a foldable as a daily driver, the tech just isn't mature enough yet, and it won't be until they either fully or almost fully eliminate all compromises they have compared to bar phones, with durability being a very big one that has to be dealt with.

Until then, I'd only ever own one if I suddenly got some extra money and used one as a secondary device, but at that point it does feel like a bit of a waste spending ~£1,700 to get one if I'm not going to be using it for everything, and makes me think that an 11" tablet as a secondary device would do the same job for me and do it better.

Mediatek should revive the Dimensity 820, cut to 4G, put it at 6nm and sell it as the Helio G100 Ultimate.

With that, they could get sure sells since 5G is not worldwide and that design might be revived.

Hope someone reviews this phone soon. It isn't the most powerful but I'm curious about its resistance, performance and battery life.

The price you see isn't final. They usually reveals new devices and put an absurd selling price to make people wait for the release day and then, the price goes to its normal.

About the font text, it's Samsung Sans font text. Just a sarcastic marketing strategy from Blackview to mock Samsung foldables for being expensive but, of course, they know they can't compete with flagships.

                                DOA

Wow, they even copied the Samsung Galaxy font. :)) Well, at least it's cheap.
