The only thing positive about Sharp (aka Foxconn with Tinno manufacturing and design) is that their designs are refreshing and the occasional light weight in certain models.

I am using Aquos R6 with 1" camera sensor with Gcam mod. Why R9 use 1/1.55"? May I ask if the sensor is better or it just a downgrade?

That's cute camera design. Just stick with that design for the next 5 years new release like iPhone did. And focus more on internal being improved.

This is what I have found: Sharp announced on May 8, 2024 that they will not release the flagship smartphone model AQUOS R9 pro this year. The main reasons for the cancellation of the pro model were the falling value of the Japanese yen and increased competition in the market, which led to increased costs. As a result, prices for the pro series have risen, and, according to the company, this could reduce demand among consumers. For example, the price of the previous model AQUOS R8 pro started at 190 thousand yen.
During the Q&A session, Sharp spokesman Mr. Kobayashi Shigeru said that the pro model will not be released this year. He noted that the smartphone market has reached a stage of maturity, and simply releasing devices with the highest performance is no longer so important. Instead, it is becoming increasingly important to meet user needs by focusing on selecting the right features.
Maybe we can say farewell to Pro Sharp phones, and that means Bye Leica phone as well which are based on the flagship Sharp phones.

It's what happened with the r8 (released a month or two iirc before the 8 gen 3 and mtk 9300 devices were released).

Also, Sharp software is pretty basic, close to stock Android. That means it doesn’t have features that people are accustomed to. Heck, it doesn’t even have its own voice recorder nor weather apps (outside Japan). No twin apps, no call recording. Stock Android fans might like it, but general public would be disappointed.
