Those two factors have a higher value and profit even when paying 2x for a screen
Apple will lose from not having a phone ready to sell Vs paying 2x for the screen if the phone is ready for production they can find other means to offset the cost/profit
So it's tempting to think like a consumer and focus on "quality Vs quality" in isolation
But at the scale of apple it's different

Weight - 20% = 176,8g
Battery + 20% = 5330 mAh
Make it smaller but thicker. All phones that are 76-79mm wide are super heavy.
People here could not see simple fact the 21:9 ratio allowed Xperia to be much lighter while having , periscope, 5000mAh battery, jack and micro sd slot.
