OEM can easily put a $200 SoC inside while rest of the phone is worth $70, then sell this phone for $350.
There is zero chance 8sg3 is cheaper than SoC like 8+g1 , that costed back then $120. It has latest X4 core and TSMC 4nm process
Demanding stronger chip that also is fabbed on better / fancy process is completely stupid if main reason is game.
8g4 is going to cost even more. Custom cores + 3nm fab, shall reach $200 or even more.
Asking for stronger SoC, higher RR screen, more ram for what? Games

-first Tegra X1 aka Logan
-second Tegra X1 in switch aka Eristra
-third Tegra X1 in switch V2 aka Mariko.
Mariko switch V2 is more efficient than switch v1, and Tegra X1 used in it is like twice more efficient that's why sometime newer switch like oled one has double battery life compare to OG switch, and even newer soc in games like Totk it use up to 6W when pushed.

My point cpu and Gpu didn't make Soc expensive, other things like NPU, Isp, Modem etc made soc bigger hence it became expensive and proof is 8s is still powerfull but cheap because it focus only on perfomance.
So yes 8s has everything to do with this discussion, unless you random reply people and don't read.

So no, most people want 8g for various reasons, and upgrading from the already overpowered CPU/GPU for current apps/games in android or iOS is not a (need), it's just marketing.

The GPU can run x86 apps or games in 3 ways without any help or coding it'll be close to 60-80% alone. And yes it'll only make sense in Dex or Android 15 desktop mode.
