$900 for 12/256 in China? Vivo really make a huge mistake not selling this globally. It should be no more than the likes of Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, both of which aren't even close to this Vivo.

Whenever I see translation or grammar errors in any product whatsoever, I immediately know that it's cheap garbage.
Translation is such a fundamental and easy thing to get right, that doing a bad job at it shows me everything else that's far more complicated is also subpar. Basically, you immediately know it's an unreliable product.

BMHater12, 13 May 2024They also need to fix the English text on OriginOS if they ... moreAnd this is why I would never buy these phones even if they had full frame senors.
Seeing translation errors makes me question everything about the software and hardware. That's such low level of effort and quality assurance, that if you can't get that right, there's zero hope you'll get anything right.

jiyen235, 13 May 2024That's excessive. Especially the selfie cams, no one n... moreThe reason why I said 2600-step is because Xiaomi has done a 1024-step variable focal aperture, and 2600 steps would cover everything noticeable + some micro-adjustments in between f/1.4 and f/4.0.

As for the selfie, it's because I don't like being limited to a wide selfie camera with a 20mm lens, and I find those to not be wide enough for ultrawide selfies but too wide for regular use. A 25mm + 18mm or even a 25mm + 12mm combo would be perfect. I'm willing to put up with a large hole punch, honestly. I could even go with a pair of Sony IMX-858 sensors here, but they're probably too large for most people's comfort. Still, Apple uses just as much space while using a 1/3.6"-type sensor when combining it with the software-driven Dynamic Island, and people seem to be fine with that.

I personally hate curved screens but love what the Pixel 8 series did with the flat screen surrounded by minimally curved bezels and a curved frame complented by curves on all four sides. Flat frame and sides make it hurt to hold the phone for long periods of time and have worse grip. The curved screens don't need to exist for phones to have curved frames and sides, and it's like everyone except for Google (until October, that is, since the Pixel 9 series looks to be flat 😭) doesn't understand this.

Tandem displays offer increased efficiency, an increased lifespan of the display and can counteract burn-in. You don't need any increase in brightness with these, it could all go towards increasing the power efficiency, especially at higher brightness, or a mix of both better power efficiency and higher sustained brightness.

As for the matte surface of the Gorilla Glass Armour, I'll have to try it to see whether it feels better or worse to use, but I personally don't dislike matte surfaces entirely, and from what I understand, Gorilla Glass Armour itself is matte, instead of this being a matte coating applied on top, so it shouldn't make the colours anywhere nearly as muted as most monitors' matte coatings do. Also, Gorilla Glass Armour gets scratches at Mohs 7, with deeper grooves at 8, instead of the usual 6 and 7, while also being more shatter-resistant than Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It's genuinely an amazing material for once.

Darth Caesium, 13 May 2024Honestly, there's still room for improvement, even tho... moreThat's excessive. Especially the selfie cams, no one needs THAT much I think. Just a fairly wide JN1 would be sufficient. And the variable aperture too, these sensors are fixed focal length and aren't too big so having a 2600 stop variable aperture is just comical. A 3-8 stop variability would be enough and I'd say 5 stops would please nearly everyone. What would be cooler if the aperture could be higher than f/4.0, if not then no worries still. The UW cam is an interesting one, I'd say I agree the LYT-700 is endgame level and basically the same as the Find X6 Pro's one which I'd say was the best UW cam on a phone basically.

The bezels need to be thinner yes but dunno about the flattening of the display. I prefer curved displays as they are more comfortable than flat ones, I've tried an iPhone 12 PM and 14 PM, both feel like bricks compared to an S22 Ultra. Can't even imagine how bad the S24 Ultra must be. Also, what's the purpose of tandem display structure? What would it do? I think what displays need is not more peak brightness but better sustained brightness and more importantly better uniformity. Notebookcheck does great tests on it that's easy to understand.

If Gorilla Glass Armor is only used for protection then yea it's great but if it also includes the matte layer on top that Samsung uses then that's a hard nope from me. Modern day phones post S22 Ultra (basically phones above 1200 nits) can be easily seen in direct sunlight and the matte screen helps that yes but also doesn't have the same sharp and beautiful look that glossy screens have. Glossy screens look like mirrors and matte screens look sort of grain-ey, great for direct sunlight viewing but horrible for indoor viewing which I'd say most people care about more. You don't care too much about the accuracy outdoors, you only want to be able to see stuff outdoors. But indoors, when watching a movie or something, you want pin-sharp images with accurate colors and stuff and matte just ain't it. The graininess on the S24 Ultra isn't a bug, it's a side effect of the matte coating.

So basically the only possible upgrades I can think of are :
              >5 stop variable aperture from at least f/1.6 to f/4.0
              >Thinner bezels/symmetrical bezels similar to Apple and Google
              >LYT-700 tier UW cam
              >JN1 selfie cam
              >Middle level telephoto lens between 2-3.5x, preferably LYT-600 or better. JN1 is acceptable as well.

That's ranked in order of importance for me, the last one is so low because Vivo's 2x cropping is great and 3.7x isn't too zoomed in compared to let's say the 5x from a pixel or an iPhone. I'm always FOR improvements, it's just that some of the stuff you mentioned is either not realistic (2 selfie cams means 2 punch holes, yuck) or has cons (flat display has no reflection issues but isn't as comfortable to use, matte screens look bad, etc.).

jiyen235, 13 May 2024Everything is cool and all but I wish it had a variable ape... moreHonestly, there's still room for improvement, even though it's extremely impressive to the point where I've never been more excited, even for a device that I'll never be able to get. For the Vivo X110 Ultra, they need to:

•Make the screen flat, with symmetrical bezels that are Apple-level small
•Make the back slightly more curved, make the frame more curved
•For the selfie, use two Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensors, one with a wide and the other with an ultrawide lens, both with PDAF, as well as a ToF 3D (or even Metalenz's upcoming PolarID system)
•Give the main camera a 2600-step variable focal aperture from f/1.4-f/4.0 and macro capabilities (like Sony is doing with the Xperia 1 VI)
•Use the Sony LYT 700 for the ultrawide (I'm fine with this not happening, but it would still be nice) and give it a 12mm lens (must happen)
•Use a tandem display structure (should be slightly more common next year)
•Use Gorilla Glass Armour (should also be slightly more common next year)

Edit: For the bezels thing, it would've been more appropriate if I'd said Samsung Galaxy S24+-level, since those are only 1.52mm.

                                  C'mon vivo!!!
Get rid off your curved design SHIT. It is uncomfortable. Slippery at hands. Cannot hold it when laying down

One more thing, replace your garbage OS (Funtouch OS) with Origin OS for all markets or make a worthy software

Say what you want but it really looks fugly. Somehow Huawei made it look more appealing. This one has a massive blackhole at the back. Yes, the camera is arguably is one of the best on the market but it looks "too much"
