DarlingYext, 15 May 2024Just bad, probably the worst phone for its price.Can't agree that it's the worst. It is the same value as OP Nord or Moto Edge. Worse refresh rate but higher pixel density and no notch. Cameras are almost identical. SD 6 gen 1 vs SD 7 gen 3 is a big difference maybe, but there other features to compensate as jack and normal stereo.
But I was expecting a little better from 10 VI

Is the Wifi and USB values simply copy-n-pasted from the 10v, or will they really remain at USB2 and Wifi5 for another geenration?

So 1VI gets a huge battery boost for dumping the "almost never used" 4K display.
And 10 VI it's battery life dropped like a rock because 6 Gen 1 is a optimisation mess.

I'm honestly fine with all the specs and even the price but only thing that kills this phone is 60hz refresh rate. Wtf Sony you couldn't have given it 90hz??

smh it's the 10 series that should've gotten the shorter aspect ratio because people who want small phones don't watch movies on it, so there isn't a need for a thick chin just for a front facing speaker either. Making the aspect ratio shorter while keeping the small-ish screen size would have also made the omission of the telephoto an easier pill to swallow.
Sony could've positioned the 21:9 screen without any cutout as the premium design by keeping it in the 1 series and using the shorter aspect ratio on their midranger, but they did the opposite, which is basically an admission that 21:9 is inferior, just like how Samsung only used SD in the S24 Ultra and Exynos in the lesser flagship models.

It's a pity to see that Sony haven't improved the refresh rate. The display itself is very good, I have the 10iii, but nowadays people expect at least 90hz display.
I'm glad it has OIS because mine doesn't and therefore videos are very shaky.
They also should have upgraded the selfie and ultra wide because the ultra wide on mine sometimes lacks detail.
I bought this phone because I thought it had good cameras but it doesn't. We took some photos at a family gathering recently and my photos were horrible. Other relatives with budget android phones took better pictures and the best pictures by far were from the guy using an iPhone.
So I've decided to try and get an iPhone next because I want a phone that can take good photos and video every time.
I can't see Sony selling phones beyond the next 1-2 years tbh because they're offerings are simply not good enough anymore.

50EUR cheaper than 10 V, with 8GB RAM and better SoC and 3 Android updates (older models had only 2) and 4 years security updates.
Good deal IMO.

They clearly kept the aspect ratio the same on the 10 VI to use up the order of LCD panels! Next version will probably change over. Honestly this phone is terrible in almost every way, the old 10’s a few years back were much better and more premium.

It switches from TSMC to Samsung with this chip change. We will see how this will affect the battery life for which its predecessors were known to be good.
It‘s 5 grams heavier, which I‘m usually not a fan. However, it seems charging is faster as the previous Gen was rumored to be 21W, this is now 30W, so I can accept that. Batteries/charging advance all the time, so there is as much potential for weight loss with that as in the previous generation. That would not be the case if the weight went up for example because of a bigger camera sensor. Speaking of, maybe this has an even higher potential for that now that the telephoto is gone. If the main camera really is as good or better, then it‘s ok. The iPhone 15 seems to do a good job as well with only one 48MP camera
A good change is the price, because that was €449 on the previous one. So €50 less and 2GB more RAM. Would have wished for 256GB at least as an option as well though. Sure it has microSD but I don’t like using that in 2024 with its speeds. It‘s like a computer with a 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, fine but not preferable.
