Weekly poll results: the Google Pixel 8a is too expensive right now

19 May 2024
Right now, people would rather get the Pixel 8 instead. This price will start falling in the coming months, of course, so attitudes will change.

I also thought of the new Xperia 10 VI, but I think that would be a software and camera downgrade from Pixel 7a.

No one is going to use the phone for more than 4 years, software update for 7 years is great. Is it possible to use present battery capacity, charging speed, 8 gb RAM and processor in future that is after 4 years due to advancement in technology including software.

Instead of 7 years of software update, they can provide the same for 5 years and reduce the price of phones. So, maximum can think to buy.

Pixel phones are just like iPhones. It's a good/decent deal in the US, where a lot of the software features are fully available and US centric. Everywhere else, it's a poorer value unless you are a stock android purist. Even ColorOS has more "global friendly" features than Pixel.

Please keep promoting Pixels especially in Asian countries where Google aftersales doesn't exist and where anyone with Oppo or Samsung users can find an official service center on any malls.

Anonymous, 19 May 2024Google Pixel is even more popular than Sony Xperia in Japan... moreBuying a $250-270 usd second hand A55 5G is a bad idea? Thanks for tip. I almost did a shameful thing. 😭
Now I'll just get a brand new Pixel with features that do not work outside USA. Maybe they'll give me a discount since it's crippled outside the US.🤣

I guess they don’t want to compete. And Pixels aren’t big enough to alert the antitrust authorities.

In India they are charging approx 640 dollars for the base model. Way too overpriced for a phone which doesn't even offer charger and has 18w slow charging. 7 year update is good, but imagine amidst of these 7 years, when other brands will offer you way fast charging. These sloe laggy over priced will take around an to get full charged.

NeonHD, 19 May 2024The thing about the Pixel 8a is that, $499 is the US price.... moreIts not 679$, it's 679CAD which is exactly $499

The thing about the Pixel 8a is that, $499 is the US price.

In Canada, it is $679 just for the 128GB model. THAT'S WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!

The main takeaway is that most people say there are far better mid rangers out there, which there are.

The Pixel 7a started at the same $499.95 price when it launched and only offered 3 years of software updates. It's really great that Google decided not to increase the price after the incredible improvements on the Pixel 8a.

Even the price won't fix dimensions, it's just too big, how the heck is A model bigger than standard Pixel (8a vs 8).
