That's 25% less power consumption for the same clock speeds as the previous generation. At 3 GHz it won't make any difference from now.

Rumor says that Google is trying to makes the Android 5.0 to be less "hardware-intensive" and the Android 5.0 Google Nexus will be running on a dual-core processor instead a quad-core.
Though all these are just rumor, but I'm really hoping Google is working on this direction.

Secondly I said that Intel's low-clocked Atom-based Baytrail smoked/destroyed/humiliated ARM's or Qualcomm's offering by THAT much, while clocked at a humble 1.1Ghz. The only advantage that ARM/Qualcomm has is that most of the apps are not optimized for x86 architecture (for now)

And this is where ARM start playing catch up on Intel.
They are just like AMD, believe in higher frequences will do the trick, whereas Intel go for a more sophisticated solution like today.
Sorry ARM, 2014 will be the year where you see Intel to become the demon from your worst nightmare.

That said, a true octa core processor would be waste on a smartphone, because neither the operating systems (iOS, Android 4.x) nor the apps support such wide multiprocessing. The benefits of going from four to eight cores would be marginal at best.

If these companies took all the effort they put into this type of marketing (ie raising the clock speed up as much as they can to give 'impressive' numbers no-one needs), and put it into moving technology forward in a way which matters (power consumption etc), we might one day end up with something amazing.

Good if they implement a way to really use that processing power.
It'd be interesting to have the ability to use our smartphones a desktop CPUs, or mini-servers; to use our normal TVs as they were CPU Monitors, or to be able to boot Windows and Android to work as we need.
Well, if anything, this is good progress, now Angry Birds will take less seconds to load n.n

The increase in frequency will be compensated by lowering the voltage to power on the chips. The power dissipated is dependent of the frequency and the power of two of the voltage. So there will be no need for larger batteries.

Potential power save... Heard that one before. Battery heats up and drains faster. How bout make phones like before that held charge at least 3 days no problem and not 10hrs BS

Look for Sony and Samsung to be the first to use these processors in their phones.
Apple? Well, they think their phones are already fast enough and are focusing on neat-o plastic color backs for their next generation phones.

I'm telling you guys, if any normal end-user consumer so us going on about cores/Rams/pixels/benchmark test about the type of phones we have in college or varsity, they would think we are mad. And they hardly notice the lags we see on our phones! Some don't even know that these phones need to be updated! They are currently running on outdated os like froyo or ginger bread! A mere mention about ARM chipsets will just get them confused and I bet you they don't even give a rats a## on what's running under their hood.
