The pictures of Eric show the back of the unit with textured pattern while the closer pic (black color back) is plain and smooth.

Really disappoint with these samples. Moto known for their classy designs. kevlar for the back panel would be a great one. but the final version is not up to Moto Class. specs wise X would be a great performer if does have a big sensor to match up Sony and Nokia picture quality.

I don't get the reason why a lot of people criticize Moto X for not putting 1080p screen, quad core processor & other high end specs. Moto X got 2GB of RAM FFS! I don't see myself would die if my mid-range spec phone opens an app or browse just 0.5-1 seconds slower than a high end phones. I don't see the needs of 1080p screen if my eyes already see a good 720p screen. Those kind of people are just slaves of benchmark tests. The most important things for me are a phone that could last a whole day so I don't have to plug it ever 10-12 hours on medium-heavy usage, with a max. 4.5" screen with thin bezel so it gets into my pocket and could last for at least 2 years before newer technology replaces it. And Moto X could be the answer.

              just a thought though

I would be surprised if this is the final version. Many of Motorola's recent devices use kevlar for the back panel. Not plastic. However, this might be to keep the final price down.

The specs are more than powerful enough for gaming etc. Not to mention that this is a midranger. Aparantly you also believe that there is any point to full HD on screens smaller than 5.5"? Just a hype to make it seem like the phone brings something new. Will only draing the battery and require more powerful HW with no performance increase at all.

If you want a boring HW dragrace phone, get a laggy GS4, great for benchmarks - poor UI and laggy Sammy touchwiz UI.

the last time I owned a Motorola smartphone, they repeatedly promised updates, missed their own deadlines and then made the phone crash a lot more frequently. Are they going to treat support more seriously now? Otherwise will pass on this even if Google own Motorola.

Ok a new phone from a new manufacturer with more or less same specs(as for leaks till now) as the other o e m s. The real million dollor question is who is left there to buy it. Most of the users already bought the current generation phones . Any one left is waiting for next gen.

It looks nice. And since it has 2 gigs of ram for apps, the cpu shouldn't be a problem for a 720 p screen. If the camera is good I could see myself buying it. Unfortunately i doubt it will be available soon in Europe. And for those complaining about it only being assembled and not manufactured in USA you should know that atm it's impossible to get supplies manufactured in usa. Semiconductors screens memory are all made in Asia. Only thing possible atm is to be assembled. And be thankful for that. Baby steps
