They never updated the Thrive (AT&T) or the L3 past Gingercrap. I wouldn't take the chance of them going back to their old ways.

I have an L9 brought while it was running on ice cream sandwich and now its running on jelly bean. LG is doing great on their updates and before they are released they make sure they are not stuffed with bugs unlike other oem's.

Do you even see any smartphone that does record in 4K? Even the rumored Sony Honami is doubted to support the 4K video recording since TVs with 4K resolution haven't been made yet as far as I know or if there is a TV that does it, can you even buy one? Or maybe at least consider if people will spend too much money to buy a TV capable of playing a 4K res video? Another thing is that you will need at least 128GB ROM in order to be able to produce a device that can play a 4K video as far as I know and none of the Android OEMs out there have ever produced such a huge amount of ROM. Only Apple did it on one of their iPads but still it isn't a 4K capable device. I think one 4K video can eat up all that 128GB of storage so I wouldn't mind if my device will not support it since smartphones nowadays haven't perfected a a 1080p video resolution, reviewers still have a lot of issues with smartphones recording at 1080p.

The problem with LG is availability and low demand, which makes the price drop faster than other brands plus parts are so expensive when out of warranty. The nexus 4 is still a great deal, its their only model that promises consistent updates.

In case of update, LG is currently doing great. My Lg Optimus L5 recently received Jelly Bean update in India where other manufacturers not giving Jelly Bean update to the phone where the processor is below 1GHz. I am very happy with the performance of my phone and looking forward to buy LG G2.

What a shit phone! The volume buttons are on the back of the camera, meanwhile if you record a video and you try to zoom, your fingers will come in front of the camera. On screen buttons are shit and annoying when you play a game. LG, Sony, HTC does the same mistake as always. No 4k recording when the Snapdragon 800 supports it?
