It's exaggerated fanboy crap. People like to pretend IOS does not have issues and inconsistencies while android's issues are heavily exaggerated.
They use system wide restriction to create an illusion of perfection, but it fails and it has many inconsistencies negating the whole purpose in the end.

Also apple never had the best tech to begin with

Nor does every IOS device get the latest updates. And the bottom ones to get them only get partial updates and generally bigger problems. Like IOS 5 with he 4S had more crashed apps than any system.
For a year or more now millions of users have been left without bluetooth and wifi while having dropped calls and camera flash issues.

This perfect world everyone speaks of does not exist and believing so is very foolish. This is reality and there is no such thing as perfection in any aspect of our lives. IOS is no exception.

          Years back I was a massive fan of Japanese phones, because they had the best tech. Those DOCOMO phones were a pain to hack, but gorgeous.

          But you know what, when I bought my first iPhone 4, I had high-tech and a great working phone in one device. Yes, Apple isn't the best in tech any longer, but the overall experience of the device still does it for me.

          Try something new, and if it works for you, well then it works.

          And one more thing: Almost every iPhone user will get the latest version of iOS without any hassles (hardware permitting), Android users aren't always so lucky and many carriers don't release updates for a year or longer. Updating firmwares the long way isn't for everyone..

            I wholeheartedly agree that iPhone 5 is behind in some features, but for me it still has the simplest user experience, which is what many people want on a day to day basis. And I really haven't had any major issues with iOS in over 3 years (I use my phone heavily).

            But as an example, my friend's SG4's PIN lock requires him to press "OK" as where on iPhone you enter the PIN and it just unlocks the phone. TINY in comparison, but a big annoyance to him coming from iPhone 4. It's the little things that can really p!ss people off.

            You can get used to anything, no problem. When I switched from Windows 7 to Mac it wasn't all smooth sailing, and there are still things I can't do easily on a Mac, but the benefits outweigh the cons.

            Perhaps we should all do a phone-swap with some of our friends for 2 weeks just to try something new ;)

              Steve was big on telling you what you wanted. Cook seems to be big on giving people what they want, so we may see many changes coming.

              I don't know that Cook has the balls and vision that's needed, but Apple can certainly keep making profits on their product. They don't have to be #1 in the world. They can't. They just have to offer compelling products that keep customers like ME, for example, from LEAVING them for something else.

              They can be a solid #3 or #2 and keep making giant profits. Doesn't matter. But I'm getting tired of seeing Samsung and other companies come out with the product I want while I sit here sucking on an iPhone 4S waiting now for what seems to be September 2014! To see if IF apple gives me an iPhone with a bigger screen and better battery life.

              The waiting and the secrecy is getting old. Waiting and waiting and waiting. How long ago was ios 7 announced? I still can't have it.

              iPhone 6? Another year? I'm not buying a 4" phone. I don't care about the fingerprint boloney.

                It's not flawless. Yes, apps can crash. My Facebook does it all the time. When ios 6.1.3 came out a lot of apps were crashing until they updated them.

                Mostly I don't bother about closing apps, but eventually, the phone will start acting up and I just close all the running apps.

                Now; this isn't me reading it, this is reality of the iPhone. Day to day use.

                Battery life sucks big time.

                Apps are easy to use. Siri is helpful. The phone gets the job done.

                It has been a good solid phone this iPhone 4S, BUT, as I use the phone more and more, the battery life, the screen size and the ios paradigm of closing one app and opening another app, not being able to attach more than 5 pictures from the Photos app to send to an email or message, etc etc, just stupid things like that are getting to be annoying when Android is so far ahead. It's frustrating.

                What felt new and advanced a couple of years ago now feels old and tired.

                I shouldn't have to work so much to get things done.

                I don't hate the iPhone. I have a MacBook Air and I love that thing, I don't hate apple. But after jobs Apple is going back to what they used to be before he got them out of bankruptcy.

                Apple needs to change their attitude or they all need to retire.

                When Cook was asked about a larger screen for an iPhone he basically said that a bigger screen means that the colors won't be as good and the battery drain will be too much. Like there aren't other phones with bigger better screens than the iPhone 5 that last longer. They're living in a dream world.

                        How many times do you read people comment "works flawlessly", "never crashes", "quality build" or "premium feel", yet all are documented to be false.

                        You can see and read about all the above iphone problems on the web or see youtube videos. I pointed this out to one fanboy and you would have thought I killed someone. He lost it.

                        Then you have the other fanboys yelling about android lag. None of the top to middle tier Android phones made this year, or WP8 or BB os10 for that matter.

                        Open enough apps and you can make just about any phone or tablet lag. I've done it on Apple ipad 2 and iphones. Eventually the system just stops responding. Deal with it. Close the apps you aren't using and the phone won't lag.

                        Fanboys, although you might think otherwise, your phone isn't the greatest thing in the world. What you buy today will be outdated and slow by comparison in less than a couple years.

The back and sides were almost entirely metal. The only plastic part was the bottom 1/5 of the phone on the back. Search google images if you don't believe it.

                                Face it, specs and fringe features are of no use to 80% of smartphone users. They will just say "ooh, that screen and camera is nice" and never use things like "smart motion" or try to scroll using their eyes. Hah.

                                  You can't sugarcoat your statement by saying "iOS is nice", and then come up with something like that. Why does it fail? Is that not YOUR opinion because it is simply an "app launcher", ie. it doesn't do what Android allows you to do?

                                  If you want to properly debate OS use, you need to look at what the majority of users NEED, vs. what they may want.

                                  iOS delivers on EVERYTHING that the standard non-tech user needs, in an intuitive package. The widgets and the rest are nice but just unnecessarily complicate the customer experience for many, probably the reason why Apple still haven't included them after 7 years of iPhone.

                                  iOS isn't perfect, but it works incredibly well, so well in fact that they keep getting the highest user satisfaction ratings out of all Smartphones in the US:

                                        And Android is at least just as simple as IOS when it comes to the simple things. ANd the menu system is setup more logically. Being new to either is a little confusing. Especially coming from one or the other. You can just choose to do more with Android. You don't have to fill all the screens or use all the extra options.
