Apple iPhone 5s GPU tested, twice as fast as the iPhone 5 unit

12 September, 2013
Apple is mum on details, but the GPU delivers on the promise of bringing a 2x performance boost.

So, the 5s benchmarks as good as an LG G2 but it is an inferior phone in every other way that counts.

Good thing I got an LG G2 then.

dee, 13 Sep 2013326 ppi is correct for normal eyes, if u need more resoluti... moreNo no no no no... if you need higher resolution that means that you have very good eye sight because you can see the details easily with a sub 720p screen... the clarity on the HTC one compared to the iPhone's screen is MUCH better. Though i will agree with you, anything over 720p is completely useless with a phone.

I love when Apple kicks the competition powered by over clocked Quad Core, Octa Core, heavily Rammed phones with its feeble dual core everytime they release an iPhone. Now, the competition will be in R&D to add more cores or tweak the phones again to raise the bar against the A7 and try to prove better. Waiting for the GFX score after the OpenGL ES 3.0 support.

What is the point of all this graphical power when it runs on such a sub-par, 80% of 720p screen resolution..? Games are typically made to be able to run on older phones so the public for them is not too small. So this GPU is doubly wasted on such a screen. Nothing will tax it enough for the difference to matter.

Dont know where those scores came from but they dont match those from gfxbench.com or were purposely skewed. The I9505G "S600 CPU" scored 43.9fps on Egypt 1080p offscreen. http://gfxbench.com/subtest_results_of_device.jsp?D=Samsung+GT-I9505G+Galaxy+S4+Google+Edition&id=484&benchmark=gfx27

Anonymous, 13 Sep 2013You know. You are really illiterate. There isn't much differe... moreYou're right there's not much quality difference because wether your video source is 1080 or 720, it's automatically downscaled by the smaller resolution screen of the iPhone. The iphone screen isn't even 720p. It's 640 x 1136. 640 dimension was the resolution back when we had Windows 3.1. I think the other guy your bashing was the amount of power it takes to render an image/video at actually 1080p. Check your facts man.

Unless you are ok with mediocrity. One more trade off of big screens... they crack easier. There are so many people complaining that their SGS4 broke in their pockets without having dropped it. It makes senesce... every smartphone screen can crack if it pressed too much but trying to put a big phone in a tight pocket is more susceptible to cracks than a smaller one. Considering the fact that SGS4 is made of plastic that is bending like crazy and no surprise why so many SGS4s crack without apparent reason.

At 640 x 1136 pixels, technically, it does not even qualify as High Definition. The only reason it has a high pixel count is because of it's TINY screen.
