Anonymous, 11 Oct 2013The 5c is plastic junk with old tech and made in China. No... moreIt's faster than my Galaxy S4, more memory and costs less.

No wonder S4 sales are so "disappointing".

the pricing is critical. as it is, apple has bombed on this. should of £350-£400. if would of been huge sales, as it is flop.

If you want cheap.. just get second hand iPhone 5.. bet 64gb version is cheaper/premium then 32gb of iphone 5c.

Also, in a 2 year window things look better, when iPhone 6 is out the 5c will be the cheapest offering, things are going too look much more sensible then. However its anyone's guess what happens to iPhone 5s at that time, maybe it will be replaced by iPhone 6c, which will be a 5c with bigger display. I like to hear some speculations on that topic, anyone?

In my opinion Apple never set out to release a cheap iphone. Releasing the 5c appears to have been a way in which to justify pushing the price of the 5s further upwards. This, with the cheaper to produce plastic body of the 5c, drives profits further up on each device sold. From what im seeing from people around me I think people are starting to realise what Apple are actually doing and atleast here in Australia a lot of people seem more prepared to move on to an Android than they were previously.

I always struggled to see how they would sell a heap of 5c's for the price they were charging (even I went out and bought a near new iphone 5 for way less after I saw the price of the 5c). I could understand charging that price (or slightly less) if the 5c maintained its aluminium body, but plastic has an inherintly lower quality perception and trying to maintain the same price doesn't fly for most people. All in all it isn't so surprising that production is being cut back.

Looks like the 5c price was perfect, it did its job, namely to push burrs over to 5s. Think about it, iPhone 5 as a cheaper alternative to 5s would have cannibalize sales of 5s, the 5c replaced 5 for this sole reason.

A cheaper 5c would have reeled in some new milk cows for their overpriced ecosystem but at the cost of 5s sales, the total losses would have been billions over the one year iPhone cycle.

So there you have it, iPhone 5 was too desirable and a dangerous competitor to the 5s.

If they were really serious about selling it they should have priced it properly, 550$ off contract is one heck of a price for 16Gig phone with the specs of last year, Nexus 4 released last year had best of 2012's hardware and sold 350$ off contract for 16 Gig version, had better looks than iPhone 5c. Apple should learn something from google. but i guess they can't coz if they do, from where can they raise all that money required to file patent lawsuits, instead of investing in R&D of iphone.
