AnonD-167217, 18 Oct 2013You said this " a stepping stone or a test lab at best... moreMicrosoft is a profit oriented outfit and software based and all their attempt on hardware has failed ( the surface is a classical example) those hardware ideas and concepts came from companies they took over ( might not be as popular as Nokia) and worse part is that they would still sell the same OS to other companies once they see the market.

Acer Iconia W3 (as bad bad as the screen is) sold more than the Surface for instance!

If Microsoft achieves a good OS blend for instance using Nokia, they would still sell that same OS to Sony, or Samsung.

Question is; which would sell most?

          1. Sony Xperia z ultra running Wp8.1
          2. HTC One Max running WP8.1
          3. Galaxy Note 3 running WP8.1
          4. Nokia 1520 running WP8.1

AnonD-27765, 18 Oct 2013Rumor has it that Windows Phone and Windows RT will be merg... moreThat will be a very solid communicator and if it comes on anything between 6 and 6.5 inches, it will be a must have business tool BUT the problem is this; It will be controlled by Microsoft and not Nokia, and once this happens, their greed will make them sell the same OS to other OEM like Samsung, HTC, etc or even make the software available for dual boot and replacement options, then it becomes a question of 1. Nokia has no exclusivity, 2. Who makes the best phones. At that time the only winner will be Microsoft and Nokia will be (as said earlier, a stepping stone or a test lab at best)

I wish Nokia can do this on their own.

actually the vote hasnt gone through for the microsoft lease (not buyout). the board still have to vote and also 20 governments also need to ok the deal.
in short, nokia does not yet, and probably will never be microsoft.
if all goes ok it should be happening early next year
