Good job Motorola! Sony has the worst update service. Why Sony xperia U and sola had not received jelly bean? And also why aren't Xperia U, sola and E are not going to receive kitkat ? Gotta switch to other OEMs.

AnonD-97765, 20 Nov 2013Motorola setting an example to all OEMs. This is a lesson f... moreAgreed that HTC needs to change their update strategy or they'll continue to lose market share. Same can be said with LG. They have been just as bad with their midrange L line (L3, L5, L7, L9).

There are too many smart phone choices and as the specs on phones get closer and closer the phones are becoming commodities. So the only way to differentiate is on the phone design/style, software and service.

I think HTC has the best style on the market and their Sense UI is OK, but their OS upgrade policies have been terrible since the Desire HD.

My opinion was Sony had the best service for upgrading their older phone models before reading this article. If Google delivers on the Moto phones as advertised they may take the top spot from Sony.

Well if the article is surprised and uses words like "Somewhat surprisingly" and "dated" for a 1 year 4 months, then I dont have to say much on this contribution/encouragement for the tactics these companies use.

What about Brazilian Motorola RAZR D3 XT920?

It's retail box indicates "guaranteed upgrades to next android versions"! It came with 4.1.2 jelly bean and yet didn't get any 4.2 or 4.3 release!

This likely will be their last update as the "guaranteed updates" deadline is coming close for those phones.

Motorola setting an example to all OEMs. This is a lesson for all, especially HTC, who dont care a damn about their customers after selling their devices.
Google has already declared that Kitkat will run nicely on low spec devices. Providing updates to these devices will test the caliber of Kitkat. Great one MOTO+Google

Does anyone have any info on international 2012 versions? Moto's Canadian site says that XT925 RAZR HD will get 4.4, but in every other country it's still listed with "future plan coming soon". Is Moto just that lazy to update their websites? :/ And what about RAZR i?
