It has advantages yes. But mostly from being double the pixels than anything else. And slightly more balanced colors.
The Galaxy camera has advantages too. Like it's what seems to be better OIS, and superior zoom. Also running a more flexible, functional OS.
Preferences of looks and ui aside.

And that is always the argument. Why can't a photographer go for a good camera phone? Does not mean it's their only camera?
What do all these trolls know about real photographers?
And I don't consider myself one, but I love taking photos more than selfies. Nature, people, settings, and what not. I have taken some great and interesting photos and people always ask me to take shots.
I would love to invest in a real real camera...Does not mean i do not appreciate some really good optics in a mobile or the versatility of Android on good optics.

This is a must have. No holiday snaps lost from stolen camera again (happened last year whilst touring in West Africa - 14 days of pics lost).
The fact that it doesn't talk to a smart watch is not a minus. Why would I want my camera to talk to my watch?? No 3G? No problem. I wouldn't use roaming whilst traveling anyway. WiFi is everywhere.
No pros would buy it? Fine. I am not a pro. This is for family, holidays, nights out with friends...
Looks good, its Android, wifi and DropBox gives all the rest.

PureView or Galaxy Camera are nothing in comparison to real cameras from Nikon or Cannon etc'. Maybe in 10 years...

I believe if we are compromising on the size factor, its better to go all the way to APS-C sensor now, with Galaxy Camera.... once and for all.
These low sensors hardly have a value for the serious photographer.

Just beefed-up hardware inside, the camera is same. Quad-core processor with 2 GB RAM for a camera? Lol. Samsung should instead focus more on creating a smartphone with a camera that can match to Nokia Lumia 1020.

Please update our Galaxy Cams to Kitkat we need optimized battery of UI and new modes for galaxy cam.. And need more flexibility in manual modes and upgrade software instead of just upgrading specs and calling it Galaxy Cam 2

I don't get that for a dedicated "camera" it only has a 1080p video recorder at 30fps when the note 3 has 4k recording capabilities. What a waste.

explain me, what the hell does 2 gb ram in a compact camera, what the hell does quad/octa processor in a compact camera?
just for android, you dear samsung, you are ugly face of android.
that is why developers don't care about optimisation because of gigantic amount of ram and processor power as the result of this we became just hardware hunger monsters.
