This is "clever" way to force every one to store their data on the Cloud. Even those that hate Cloud.
Big Brother.
"Lock Switch" and "Operator Tracking" could be better , but it doesn't serve Them much.LOL

So... Now a Hacker will be able to gain access to Verizon and terminate every ones phone at one time. Please people. How about personal responsibility first. Does there always need to be a Federal law to protect you from your own stupidity and carelessness?

I guess they would prefer a kill switch on every one if they can do it :)

We want a kill switch on THEM, lucky on paper there is an election but choices of candidates these days are closer to being no choice at all.

It finds your phone. Look at Android Lost app. If that's what a third party app can do, imagine what Google and any government can do to your Android phone!!

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2014And so can someone else without your knowledge.Do you think government regulation could be fooled that easy? Of course there are requirements to activate the feature. Let's say, it must be verified by a government agency/police upon personal appearance.

So they are traitors who care about the values of humans? Does anyone here have a valuable thought on this topic or do you all just give in to knee jerk reactions.

I'm against government mandated 'kill switches' but not for any of the ridiculous reasons given in these comments. Google can already wipe whatever they want from your phone. Maybe Apple too. The airwaves your devices use are gov't regulated. They can already see what's on your phones. There are already ways to control your camera, microphone and GPS to find out where you are. Why would they want to disable their best way of finding and spying on you? Heck, even an entry level nobody selling phones in a carrier's store can disable your sim card and make your device nothing more than a glorified media player. From a technology standpoint there is nothing groundbreaking here. Anyone have any cogent arguments on why this is so different from what is already the status quo?
