onex, 18 Feb 2014i don't care about the market, those 500+ phones are there ... moreYou have you opinion and that's respectable. But don't forget that you aren't the only person living in the world and also that not all the brands that use mediatek's chips are necessary crapy. Finally it could be said: One man's trash is another's treasure

iKristiaan, 18 Feb 2014Onex, Thats just bullshit, they perform like they are req... morei don't care about the market, those 500+ phones are there for a reason :) who cares about huawei, acer and alcatel, they are not and they will never be in the game, maybe just in china, with all the efforts of EU or US market share... you said it like it was, htc, samsung and sony :)) let me give you an example: i have a vodafone/alcatel smart mini as a backup between phones (flagships)..it has MediaTek processor with 1Ghz and 512Mb RAM, low resolution bla bla...ookay! when HTC Desire (not HD), was the flagship of HTC, it had guess what? A 1Ghz processor, 512Mb RAM and a higher resolution. Worked flawless, even with that let's say laggy Android 2.2 (last official update). This Alcatel i was talking about has a lite 4.1.2 and it works like crap, like really really crap! And it doesn't have anything installed on it, just the apps i use everyday, like: Facebook, Whatsapp and a few more (5 at most). Figure it out! Trust me, those 500+ phones are there for a reason (not the iphone, that's another story). And i`m talking about flagships, that's all there is for me, what's bellow the flagships doesn't count.

I had used mediatek's chips and they ARE best bang for the buck... It doesn't really matter the opinion from nerd-type users when the 99% of the regular users are more concerned about saving money... Give them 2 years and those chips are going to be top selling items.

Good going however I'm expecting these two processors to be lower than 28nm fabricated. One thing where MediaTek needs to work is to deliver the drivers to manufacturers. All the phones powered by MediaTek processors are stuck at Android 4.2.x.

                Onex,
Thats just bullshit, they perform like they are required to. the only downside they have is, that they often get hot. and are not very battery friendly. also without these chinese processors, every high-end smartphone would be like 500$+.
Thanks to these, there a brands like acer, huawei and alcatel who can come up with smartphones with very decent performance for a really nice price... so before making such statements, i would like to suggest you to look beyong YOUR oppinions, and look towards the market.
