Nokia says 75% of all Android apps are compatible with Nokia X

25 February, 2014
The rest 25% will need only about 8 hours of porting work, according to Nokia's dev papers.

Nokia/Microsoft is using Google's weapon against Google. I can't wait to own one of these.

There is time for every artists to perform on the stage in an event.

If Google allow this type of shits with its os then its killing it gradually.

Tizen might be the next os now that Google is restricting samsung to less customising Android its devices.

Nokia X series is nothing more than illusive step between android and windows. That is the original plan and that's why the interface is looking so much to windows. Backup plan is if windows fails, to continue with Android.
                  My point of view.

I still envy symbian. Nokia should have strived for it's development as it had huge market in the smartphone community. Lets see if Nokia will claim back the market share they enjoyed over the years.

AnonD-77380, 25 Feb 2014What is nokia trying to snatch?first they had symbian...the dumbed it...
then they had meego ...a very popular with th n9..
they neber took an effort and dumped meego and tied up with microsoft...
stil nokia failed to gain momentum...but going on with ms because of the huge money support from microsoft...
atlast now..they coverted the open souce android and saying all apps are compactible..
what that means...snatching from google ..theit effort in bringing up the apps and all...
nokia should have done the same with n9 ...but greedy microsoft and elop never allowed nokia to success...

the funny things is developer is forced to use nokia services instead google, for example they use their own service for push notification

i'm pretty sure the 25% is for an application that use goocle cloud messaging

If they are on the brink of killing xbox, one that already has a huge user base, how much more of their mobile division which could barely make a dent through IOS or even android for that matter.

All we need is someone to hack the phone and put CyanogenMod on it and then we can really enjoy a Nokia Hardware Android Phone!

LOLZ. If it is that much easy why don't they put the update package of 4.4.2 in the port and make it compatible for Nokia X/ X+/ XL :p

This is one of the oldest of Microsoft tactics which they have used many times in the past:

                                      "Embrace, Extend and Extinguish."

(why did IE hold over 90% market share for many years even though it was not the best)

Nokia embraces android and extends it such that 25% apps are not working with it. If Nokia X smartphones sells in big numbers, it will create 2 versions of android which are not compatible with each other.

Then developers will be forced to create 2 versions of their apps and at one point the gap between the 2 OS may become too large that it may not be worth their effort. At that point they may jump ship to Windows or iOS.

I don't know whether this will happen but I have a hunch that it is all preplanned.
