Anonymous, 13 Mar 2014I thought Android was free as well? So whats wrong with WP ... moreAndroid is free Google services are not free. Ask Samsung. Google said they would take it Google services licenses if Samsung released their magazine ui for tabets. Magazine ui was beautiful and put all american os's to shame. Samsung was gunning for both Google and Microsoft at once, they would have done it too if Android and Google weren't so closed.

There are some serious issues with both, hardware & software.
Hardware - Low internal memory in lower end phones & no SD card slot in higher end phones.
Software - Unable to install/move apps & games on SD card & No 'File Manager'.
Till these issues are solved completely, MS could not succeed, no matter whatever they do.

Believe me, normal people care less about those silly things like UI and stuff, they only focus their attention in some flashy marketing ops like Samsung did with their "Spontaneous selfie" at the Oscars.

Rather than giving free Licensing Fee for specific OEM, I prefer they make the Developer License free of cost.

Developer & user are the main driving force of an OS. It's irony that MS want WP to succeed, yet developer must pay to deploy their own app on their own phone. It's discouraging.
Dev should only pay when publishing their app on Market.

Make WP Developer Account free, let people & dev tinker with WP phone easily. Then I'm sure WP will be a huge success.
Until then, keep dreaming Microsoft. Your greediness won't take WP anywhere.

If enterprises wanna stay consistence with UI, they can use Nexus series instead of getting from different OEMs. Having different OEMs styles are the main attraction for Android for average consumers. Unlike WP, the stale UI happening on different brands. Boring.

Yeah let me tell you i had the first iphone then the second and the third, also got the iphone 5 last year as i was curious to see if i would like it as much as android but no way, i gave up on it after two weeks,Now the last three years i have been rocking android's had the galaxy s2, the first note, galaxy note 2, LG optimus prime. But i work as a sales manager in electronics store, always been a little bit of a gadget freak and i have been fancying to try the windows phone for 1,5 year now. And now for the last two months i have the lumia 1020 and the big suprise is i really love it,and maby even a bigger suprise is that i really like the windows phone system. Sure truth to be told the apps are not all there but i can almost always find apps that do the same, snapchat no love for windows phone but enter 6snap and its way better then the orignal snap, imdb better then on android, the email is way better then on ios, android and given they are quite good. Ok so no notifaction bar and no siri or google now, but i dont have to wait for it that long as it is coming next month :) well i dont expect anyone to have the patient to read throught this all. But the best think is that we have a live table in my store with phone and when i played with windows phone os i found it to be dead boring- like when testing it out for five minutes or so. But after living with it for some time now i can state that first impression is not the final and i really like it and look forwards to see what the update will bring :)

OEMs were complaining the license fee for Windows Phone are expensive. Now more OEMs will make WP8 devices. Android is dirt cheap and it allows OEM to put crapware on the OS. Windows Phone doesn't let them do that. Just like Windows PC, WP8 has to stay consistent with UI for enterprise and corporates.

I feel Microsoft makes wrong strategy by paying money the phone vendors rather than paying money to apps developers.

Until today Microsoft still does not exactly know what the end users want!
