I agree with you @ilji .
windows phone customers are actually much more satisfied and happy with their phones as compared to android ones.
the biggest reason is that windows phone does not hang at all even under exceptional load conditions.
and, being a computer engineer myself, i can tell that technically windows phone 8.1 is also very very advanced. Particularly Cortana which is today's most advanced voice recognition software much better than apple's siri . Although i like apple also.

All Windows Phone updates come straight from Microsoft. Firmware specific to the phones come from the OEMs. You can get official Windows Phone updates from Developer Preview, which is free to anyone. WP8.1 update is almost available through Developer Preview.
