India might be a corrupt country but its no worse than USA or any other country... Nokia did manage to hide millions is sales and tried to act smart to avoid taxes and now they are paying the price...

That said I know people who work at the chennai plant Windows Phone's account only for 5% of their massive manufacturing power. They mostly deal with feature phone's and Asha's... Even the Nokia X is not built there... I don't think Microsoft is losing anything great and will have any impact on their true purpose of buying Nokia - to destroy Nokia...

Tax evasion is a big crime, but making 6,600 peoples unemployed and letting them suffering without solving their employment issues would be a problem.
Nokia would no longer available to pay their tax, once they gave up mobile phone manufacturing ob.j

Hope nokia just find funding from chinese co. they might be interested with nokia, willing to pump the money without changing Nokia too much. Love Nokia.

M and M, 24 Apr 2014So will India keep manufacturing Nokia Lumias? :PThe real problem is people are not buying a lot of WP devices. Its not only Nokia's and Microsoft's problem, but every WP OEM like HTC and Samsung that also make WP devices, even before Nokia got into the picture.
Microsoft wants to come across like Android, but can never be Android when it comes to hardware. Even though Microsoft said WP will support more hardware. Like dual Sim, and on screen buttons. As far as CPUs are concerned OEMS still have to use Qualcomm CPUs ONLY. WP8.1 will support Snapdragon 200 CPUs, but if WP wants to grow in emerging markets like india and china then it has to use local hardware from native OEMS. Mediatek, Rockchip, All winner, Exynos, even LG is making their own Arm chip now, and more.

AnonD-227172, 25 Apr 2014it's simple? they'll what??? they have to shut down the pla... moreNokia india should rebrand this one if its left alone and use it for android phones. They will eventually move market, possibly in years to come they might expand more than just this one factory. If they need a name for the newline, they could just adopt KIAN as a name, then their motto should be "Connecting the world" atleast people will understand that it has something to do with Nokia. Thanks that's my humble opinion.

Quite certain, what MS is thinking, they are going to close down the plant and all the workers are going to get fired. Its India, so all MS has to do is pay off a few officials and its all good.

Problems like this occur for companies like MS in places like India because politicians want money.
