Perhaps the one on the right is simply reusing Android hardware because that's cheaper for them. The button are really the same, functionally, though in reverse order. Or the images may not be the real devices.

The mid range is still open for the 720 succesor, they need it to compete with the Moto G's.
There is NO indication that Microsoft will not seel low end "cheap" devices. They have said that mobile division will follow Nokia strategies and they know they need to cater to the low end, that's what gave them a boost in user base.

I'm really hoping they (Nokia) give us a follow up to the 720, it should be a real competition to the Moto G.
For me ideally it would be a mid range quad core processor (Snapdragon 400), 1gb ram, 4,3 inch, 720p resolution, design, build and camera could be similar to the current one. If they pull it off at a $200 - $250 range, it could be epic

Have a lumia 1520 sitting in my draw at home with wp8.1 preview, while I love it, it gets awkward having to carry it around everywhere I go. Plus the little things such as Facebook, still feels like beta mode and well everything still feels like beta mode actually, have decided to go with a Samsung Galaxy s5. What also pisses me off is the Lumia 930 was talked about a while ago and by the time it gets released it will be surpassed by every other manufacturer with a flagship coming out, also it will still feel like they are testing it out on us. Now with nokia gone I really can't see wp growing unless they do something about the app issue. ( And don't give me the old 'windows store has all the apps I need' routine again cause I don't really like Google apps anyway ).

Nokia's excellent build quality and extra apps will always beat the other Windows Phones. Buy a Lumia. Even if it's pricier, it's always worth it.
